A game’s minimum specs are not a guarantee of smooth play at high settings, and early-access requirements can change as development continues.
Find the game’s current PC requirements first
There is no single PC specification for every action RPG. Choose the game, then check its official requirements page or store listing shortly before buying. Look for separate minimum, recommended, or performance tiers, and note what resolution, graphics preset, and frame rate each tier is intended to deliver. If the developer does not state a frame-rate target, do not assume one.
Early-access games may change as new builds arrive, and published requirements may also be revised. Treat the current game page as the authority rather than relying on an old article, a similar game’s specs, or a parts list described as suitable for the genre.
Compare every part of the system
Check your PC against the same requirement tier across all listed components. A graphics card that appears to meet the target does not establish that the entire PC is compatible.

- Graphics card and VRAM: Compare the exact GPU model and, where specified, its video memory with the game’s tier.
- Processor: Compare the CPU model with the listed minimum or recommended processor. Do not judge it by the GPU match alone.
- System memory: Check the required RAM capacity.
- Operating system and graphics API: Confirm your Windows version or other supported operating system, along with any DirectX or API requirement.
- Storage: Check both the required free space and whether the developer requires or recommends an SSD.
- Performance target: Make sure the tier’s resolution, preset, and stated frame rate match what you expect to play.
Use published tiers to set realistic expectations
These examples show why requirements should be read game by game. They are not universal action-RPG standards. The specifications below are listed on the cited official pages, accessed in 2026; those pages do not establish when the specification figures themselves were published.

Choose a requirement tier for the experience you want
If the developer supplies performance targets, select the tier closest to your preferred resolution, preset, and frame rate. A minimum tier may be intended for lower settings or resolution; it should not be read as a promise of high settings or a particular frame rate unless the developer says so. When the page gives only hardware lists, it may not establish a specific performance outcome for your setup.

If a PC falls between tiers, compare each component separately. For example, a machine could meet a recommended GPU listing but have less RAM than the recommended tier. That makes it a mixed match, not an across-the-board recommendation; the published list alone does not quantify the resulting performance.
Check storage requirements before you buy
Do not treat storage capacity and drive type as interchangeable checks. A game may list a required amount of space while separately recommending an SSD, or it may require an SSD outright. For Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian states: “A solid-state drive (SSD) is required to play Baldur’s Gate 3, and we recommend you install it on yours.” Last Epoch’s Steam listing strongly recommends an SSD. Follow the wording on the specific game’s current requirements page, and ensure the drive has enough free capacity for its listed storage requirement.

A practical starting point when comparing PCs
If you are shopping before settling on a specific game, a desktop with a dedicated GPU around the NVIDIA RTX 3060 / AMD RX 6600-XT class and 16 GB of RAM is one evidence-based starting category: those parts appear in Last Epoch’s recommended tier. It is not a guarantee for an unnamed early-access game or a universal action-RPG recommendation. Before purchasing, verify the exact PC’s CPU, GPU and VRAM, RAM, operating system, graphics API support, and SSD and capacity against your intended game’s current requirements.
Once two candidate PCs meet the target tier, compare practical ownership factors such as price, upgradeability, warranty, and cooling. The requirements examples do not establish market prices or test results for particular PCs, so those choices require checking the actual models and offers available to you.
