Shut down your PS5 Pro and unplug its AC power cord before cleaning. Use a low-powered handheld vacuum for dust around the vents and, if needed, beneath the removable covers; wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquids or chemicals, or open and modify the console.
What you need before you start
- A low-powered handheld vacuum for dust around the vents and beneath the covers. PlayStation Support recommends a low-powered vacuum for vent dust; Sony’s PS5 Pro safety guide also describes using a handheld vacuum. PlayStation Support: console noise and vent dust.
- A soft, dry cloth for the exterior plastic.

Clean your PS5 Pro step by step
- Turn off the console and disconnect power. Shut it down, then unplug the AC power cord from the electricity supply before cleaning the console or connected accessories. Sony gives this instruction in its PS5 Pro Safety Guide (CFI-70XX-B30, Australia/New Zealand English).
- Check the console’s placement. Make sure the vents are unobstructed and the console is not in a cramped space. Sony advises keeping it at least 10 cm from a wall and not placing it on a long-fibre carpet or rug.
- Vacuum dust around the vents. Use a low-powered handheld vacuum, moving it around the vent openings to collect dust. Sony recommends a handheld vacuum for this purpose; it does not identify a preferred brand.
- Optionally clean beneath the covers. Sony’s guide also recommends removing the covers and vacuuming dust trapped underneath. Follow the guide matching your model for cover handling. Stop there: do not open the console or reach for internal components.
- Wipe the exterior. Use a soft, dry cloth on the exterior plastic. Do not use liquids, insecticides, paint thinner, benzene, alcohol, or chemically treated cloths.
What not to do
- Do not clean while the console is connected to power.
- Do not disassemble or modify the PS5 Pro. Sony says there are no user-serviceable components inside.
- Do not use chemicals or treated cloths on the exterior plastic.
- Do not block vents or put the console in a cramped location.
If the fan is still loud
A louder fan does not necessarily mean dust is the cause. PlayStation says the fan may temporarily run faster during some games or applications to cool the system. Check for blocked vents, inadequate clearance, cramped placement, and dust. If those checks do not resolve the noise, contact PlayStation Support.
