Start with the apps you actually need: confirm the exact Chromebook model offers Google Play, then check that each essential app is available and usable on that device. Play Store access alone does not guarantee that a particular app will work.
Can Chromebooks run Android apps?
Some can. Google says the Play Store is available only on certain Chromebooks, and a work or school administrator may also block access. On the device, open Settings → Apps → Manage Google Play preferences. If that setting is missing, Google says the Chromebook does not support Android apps. See Google’s instructions for installing and using Android apps on a Chromebook.
Google says Chromebooks launched after 2019 support Android apps. That general statement does not replace checking the specific model: confirm its Play Store setting and support policy before buying, especially if it is an older device.
Will your must-have Android apps work?
Play Store support is a starting point, not an app-by-app compatibility guarantee. Developers can limit an app by device, screen size, Android version, or location. An app may also depend on hardware the Chromebook lacks, such as GPS. Apps can behave differently on Chromebooks than on phones, and compatibility can change over time. Google explains these restrictions in its app compatibility guidance and its help page for apps that cannot be downloaded on a Chromebook.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
- Make a list of the Android apps you rely on, rather than assuming all phone apps will be available.
- On the Chromebook you are considering, search Google Play for each essential app and inspect its listing.
- If an app is unavailable or its requirements are unclear, ask the developer whether it supports that Chromebook and its ChromeOS/Android environment before you buy.
Check the inputs and hardware each app needs
Think about how you will use each app, not just whether it installs. Google’s deployment guidance notes that some Android apps may work best with a touchscreen, stylus, auto-rotation, or particular screen resolutions; some may also require a minimum amount of memory or a continuous internet connection. Treat these as app-specific requirements, not features every Chromebook or app needs. See Google’s guidelines for deploying Android apps on Chromebooks.
- Touch and stylus: Choose a touchscreen or stylus-capable model if your apps benefit from direct drawing, handwriting, or touch controls. A USI stylus works only with a USI-capable Chromebook; check the device and stylus specifications. Google lists compatible peripheral guidance under external devices that work with Chromebooks.
- Keyboard and mouse: If you will mainly use productivity or desktop-style apps, check that their controls are practical with the Chromebook’s keyboard, trackpad, or mouse. App behavior and input support vary.
- Display and rotation: Check whether an app expects a particular resolution, screen size, or portrait/landscape rotation. A convertible hinge or auto-rotation is useful only if your apps benefit from it.
- Memory and storage: Google’s Chrome Enterprise and Education Help says, “Generally, we recommend that you deploy Android apps to devices that have at least 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.” This is guidance for managed deployments, not a guarantee of consumer performance or a minimum for every app. Check demanding apps’ own requirements and leave room for downloaded content, since installed apps use Chromebook storage.
- Internet access: Verify whether the app works offline or requires an ongoing connection. Some apps need continuous internet, so local installation does not mean they can be used without a network.
Check the Chromebook’s update policy
An older Chromebook may still run Android apps today, but its remaining support and any optional extended-update terms matter. Look up the exact model’s Auto Update policy before purchasing. Google notes that eligible pre-2021 devices may offer extended updates; opting in removes Android apps and the Google Play Store. Declining the extended-update option leaves them in place, though app developers may eventually stop supporting the device. Read Google’s extended updates support information and confirm the terms for the specific model.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
A practical comparison checklist
| What to compare | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Play Store support | The exact model has Google Play support, and it is not disabled by a work or school administrator. |
| Essential apps | Each app is available and compatible on the target device; check with its developer if uncertain. |
| Input and display | Touch, stylus, keyboard/mouse, screen size, resolution, and rotation suit the apps you plan to use. |
| Memory and storage | The device meets app-specific needs. Google’s 4 GB RAM/32 GB storage figure is a managed-deployment recommendation, not a universal guarantee. |
| Network | You know which apps need a continuous internet connection and whether offline use matters to you. |
| Remaining updates | The model’s Auto Update policy and any extended-update choice are compatible with your need to keep Android apps and Play Store. |
How to make the buying decision
Prioritize verified app compatibility over a broad claim that a Chromebook “runs Android apps.” Once your must-have apps are confirmed, choose the display, input options, memory, storage, and connectivity those apps call for. For an older model, weigh its remaining updates and the consequences of any extended-update option before committing.
