Deadlock’s character vote determines the unlock order for heroes in a specific rollout—not a permanent order or a general game-update calendar. For the current City Never Sleeps event, voting is in the Pregame lobby, and reported hero-release slots are Tuesdays and Fridays at 2:00 p.m. Pacific. Those dates belong to this event and may change; Valve has not established a recurring schedule for all Deadlock updates.
How does the Deadlock character vote work?
Players vote among the heroes in the active rollout. The result determines which hero unlocks next; it does not set the schedule for unrelated patches or establish a permanent release cadence.
How the Six New Heroes vote worked
For the Six New Heroes rollout, Valve’s August 18, 2025 announcement said players earned one vote each time they completed a game and could cast it at the voting booth in The Hideout. Valve named Mina as the first hero and scheduled the remaining releases for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays over two weeks, with balance adjustments in the days after each release. Valve’s announcement described that event’s rules; the Hideout instructions are historical, not the current location.
How the City Never Sleeps vote works
For City Never Sleeps, announced September 29, 2026, voting moved to the Pregame lobby. A current guide quoting Valve’s update says the winning team’s votes count double. It also reports that votes are earned in Standard or Street Brawl and that the first win of the day doubles votes again. The accessible official wording does not settle all eligibility and stacking details: Ranked eligibility is not confirmed in the cited rule text, and Valve has not provided a combined example. So do not assume an official four-vote outcome for a first daily win. Check the in-game ballot for the rules that apply to your match. Current voting guide

Does Deadlock have a regular update schedule?
No recurring weekly or monthly cadence is established by the reviewed Valve announcements. The Tuesday-and-Friday times reported for City Never Sleeps describe that event’s hero releases, not all Deadlock updates. Valve’s developer forum includes a major-update post dated September 29, 2026 and later changelog entries, but those do not establish a predictable interval for future updates.
