If the LEGO set in the headline is Rivendell (10316), it may be the better choice for fans who want an expansive landscape display—but that identification is not confirmed, and the claimed record-low price is unverified. Rivendell and Minas Tirith offer different Middle-earth scenes, shapes, and build sizes; the right pick depends on what you want to display and the price available in your region.
Is the set in the headline Rivendell?
Rivendell is the most plausible identification, not a confirmed one. GamesRadar compared the newly revealed Minas Tirith with Rivendell, which its writer called a favorite, and BrickTurtle published a direct comparison of the two sets. Neither source establishes that Rivendell is the set referenced by this headline or verifies the specific deal behind its price claim.
That distinction matters: the comparison below is useful if you are choosing between Rivendell (10316) and Minas Tirith (11377), but it cannot confirm a particular offer.
Rivendell vs. Minas Tirith: the main differences
| Feature | Rivendell (10316) | Minas Tirith (11377) |
|---|---|---|
| Display style | Broad, layered elven landscape, as described by BrickTurtle. | Tall, tiered fortress, as described by BrickTurtle. |
| Piece count | 6,167 pieces, according to BrickTurtle. | 8,278 pieces, according to BrickTurtle; GamesRadar also lists 8,278. |
| Minifigures | BrickTurtle lists 21; GamesRadar lists 15. The sources conflict. | BrickTurtle lists 12; GamesRadar lists 10. The sources conflict. |
| Observed Australian comparison price | A$734.95 on BrickTurtle’s page, which says prices are indicative and change over time. | A$999.99 on the same page, also indicative and subject to change. |
The Australian figures are values displayed by BrickTurtle in its comparison published August 1 and updated September 12, 2026—not confirmed current offers or historical lows. They do not establish pricing in other countries.

Which set suits your display space and taste?
Choose Rivendell for a wider landscape
BrickTurtle describes Rivendell as a broad, layered scene. It may suit a shelf or display area with more width than height, or a fan who would rather show an elven landscape than a fortress. BrickTurtle’s Australian comparison also showed Rivendell at a lower price and listed more retailer options at the time; that observation is regional and time-specific, not a guarantee of current availability.
Choose Minas Tirith for a vertical fortress
Minas Tirith is the more substantial build by piece count in the compared sources, with 8,278 pieces versus Rivendell’s 6,167. Its tall, tiered profile may be a better fit if you want Gondor’s White City and have enough vertical clearance. A higher piece count does not, by itself, establish which set is more enjoyable or better value.

Does Rivendell have a record-low price?
The available evidence does not verify a record low for Rivendell. BrickTurtle’s displayed A$734.95 is an indicative Australian comparison value, not a price-history record. Brick Sleuth’s reported £579.99 low concerns Minas Tirith (11377) in the UK, so it cannot substantiate a deal on Rivendell.
To assess a claimed low, compare the exact set number, retailer, country, date, and historical price record. A current offer in one market does not prove a record low elsewhere—or for the other set.

How to make the choice
- Pick the scene: choose Rivendell for its elven landscape or Minas Tirith for Gondor’s fortress.
- Measure the display area: consider whether your available space favors a broad build or a taller one.
- Compare local prices and stock: check retailers in your country on the same day, using the set number to avoid confusing listings.
- Check the minifigure lineup on LEGO’s current product listing: the cited comparison sources disagree on the counts for both sets.
GamesRadar’s Benjamin Abbott described Rivendell as “the pinnacle of everything Lego can be,” but that is his personal assessment, not an objective ranking. The available sources do not establish a universal winner; they support choosing by scene, display fit, and the offer you can actually get.
