Juggernaut Edition is the expanded version of State of Decay 2 now shown on official store listings. It includes the base game, the Independence, Daybreak, and Heartland packs, plus Homecoming content in the current Xbox listing. The edition also brings game updates beyond those add-ons. If you already owned State of Decay 2, Xbox announced Juggernaut as a free automatic upgrade in 2020.
What do Standard and Juggernaut Edition mean?
Standard was the original base-game purchase. Juggernaut Edition is the expanded edition that replaced the earlier Standard and Ultimate product framing in Microsoft’s 2020 storefront descriptions. Xbox Wire said existing owners would receive it as a free, automatic upgrade, including Xbox Game Pass members. You can read the February 14, 2020 announcement for the original upgrade details.
That announcement described the three included add-on packs at the time: Independence, Daybreak, and Heartland. Homecoming arrived later, on September 1, 2021, and the current Xbox listing now includes its content in the Juggernaut Edition description.
What DLC and content does Juggernaut Edition include?
| Content | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Independence Pack | A fireworks-themed celebration pack, according to the Xbox Store listing. |
| Daybreak Pack | A siege-style mode built around surviving a horde, as described by the Xbox Store and Steam listing. |
| Heartland | A story campaign, according to the Xbox Store listing. |
| Homecoming | Trumbull Valley content, including a fifth open-world map, unique story missions, landmarks, and returning characters. The Homecoming story takes place after Heartland. See the September 1, 2021 Homecoming announcement and current Xbox listing. |
What does Juggernaut add beyond DLC?
Juggernaut Edition also includes changes to the base game. Xbox Wire’s launch announcement and the current Xbox product description call out the following additions and improvements:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Providence Ridge, a new open-world map at launch.
- A rebuilt introduction and post-tutorial experience.
- Two-handed heavy melee weapons.
- Remastered graphics, improved lighting, foliage and performance, and an expanded soundtrack.
- Revised controls, including separate dodge and stealth commands.
- Mission, gameplay, and other fixes.
These are features and qualitative improvement claims from the publisher’s 2020 announcement and the current Xbox listing, not independent performance test results.
Do you need to buy the DLC separately?
If you are buying the current Juggernaut Edition, the Xbox listing presents the packs and Homecoming content as part of the edition, so the listed add-ons are not described as separate purchases needed to complete that package. Existing owners were promised the free automatic Juggernaut upgrade in the 2020 Xbox announcement. Store entitlements and availability can vary by platform, so check the edition and included-content details on the storefront you plan to use.
