What changed in Sombra’s current kit
Blizzard’s October 6, 2026 retail patch notes are the current reference for her abilities. Sombra is now a Support. Hack and Virus are removed, so she no longer uses the old Hack ability to lock opponents out of their abilities. Instead, her current kit supports allies and disrupts enemies with healing, damage, and Weaken. Blizzard’s Season 5: A Grim Doctrine announcement also summarizes the role change and new abilities.

How to respond to Hotfix
Hotfix can heal an ally over time, or target a health pack or most enemy deployables. Those are different uses with different counterplay.
When Sombra heals an ally
Hotfix’s ally effect provides 65 instant health, then 25 health per second, up to 175 total healing or 12 seconds, whichever comes first. Coordinate pressure on the ally she is supporting rather than treating the ability as an enemy disable. The patch lists two charges and an 8-second cooldown for ally Hotfix.

When she hacks a health pack or deployable
Hotfix’s pack-and-deployable hacking does not consume its ally-healing charges and has a separate 6-second cooldown. Taking damage interrupts this hack and triggers that separate cooldown. If you can safely apply pressure while she is performing one of these actions, you can interrupt it; the interrupt rule does not apply to Hotfix’s ally-healing use.
How to play around Cyberspace
Cyberspace is a projectile that explodes on impact and creates a zone. Its initial burst deals 40 damage to enemies and heals allies for 40. For 3 seconds, the zone has a 5-meter radius; it deals 25 damage per second to enemies and heals allies for 30 per second. Enemies in the zone are Weakened, reducing their damage and healing output by 50%.

- Move out of the zone when you can. Staying inside exposes you to continuing damage and Weaken.
- Do not leave a Weakened teammate to face pressure alone. Help them disengage or coordinate attention on the threat while the effect is active.
- Notice where the projectile lands. Its impact marks the area to avoid or contest; do not assume the effect is a single burst only.
How to track Stealth and Translocator
Blizzard’s October 6 patch gives Translocator a 6.5-second Stealth duration, a 0.75-second delay before Stealth begins, a 12.25-meter projectile range, and a 7.5-second cooldown. Movement speed increases immediately after teleporting or after Sombra fully enters Stealth. These limits give you a practical framework: watch likely approach and escape routes, call out a sighting, and coordinate when she becomes visible or commits to an action.
The patch notes cited here do not establish a current detection radius, specific sound cues, or a best detection hero. Avoid relying on old descriptions of Sombra’s detection behavior as though they were confirmed for this rework.

How the team should respond
- Share sightings promptly. A brief callout lets teammates orient toward Sombra and the ally she may be pressuring.
- Protect the pressured teammate. Coordinate help rather than allowing the target to manage the encounter alone, especially if Cyberspace has applied Weaken.
- React to the action, not the old kit. Apply damage to interrupt Hotfix only when she is hacking a health pack or deployable; move away from Cyberspace when possible.
- Track likely movement. Keep her Translocator’s current range and cooldown in mind when anticipating where she can reposition, without assuming the exact route she will take.
Should you switch to a specific counter hero?
The official sources cited here do not rank hero counter-picks or provide current matchup statistics. There is not enough evidence to name a definitive counter. Choose a response based on what your team needs—spotting an approach, staying alive under pressure, interrupting a pack or deployable hack, or helping the teammate Sombra targets—and verify any hero-specific ability claims against current official details.
