How to read this Kingdom Rush 5 tier list
Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance is a tower-defense game from Ironhide Game Studio. Its official site lists 18 towers and 16 heroes, and the game lets you take two heroes into battle. Pocket Gamer’s guide says a battle also limits you to five towers. That makes a tier useful as a starting point, not a universal answer: a hero that excels at wave clear may be less valuable on a map where the main problem is holding a specific lane.
The tiers below should be read as a practical framework rather than a developer-certified order. Compare heroes by damage and wave clear, mobility, survivability, crowd control, support, and how well they work beside your other hero. Compare towers by damage type and armor interaction, cost, range, control effects, unit support, and how much they depend on upgrades. Difficulty, DLC, stage mechanics, and active repositioning can all shift a choice’s value.
Version note: Pocket Gamer’s tier list was updated September 16, 2026, and identifies version 7.00.62, with Aurion and Dragon as the latest additions at that point. Ironhide has published balance updates, including a February 11, 2025 balance patch and later Dragon Wars balance and stage updates. Rankings are therefore version-sensitive; the cited snapshot does not establish the current live balance state.

Hero tier list
The available sources establish the 16-hero roster and provide a few role examples, but they do not provide a complete, verifiable ranking with evidence for every hero. Rather than invent placements, use the named examples below as role-based picks and check the game version before treating any tier list as current.
Strong specialist: Arcane Wizard
Pocket Gamer describes Arcane Wizard as dealing powerful magic damage that penetrates armor. Its guide also notes an instant-kill upgrade and an ability to boost allied towers. That combination makes it a useful candidate when armored enemies or tower support are central to your plan; it is not evidence of a developer-assigned tier or a guaranteed best pick on every stage.

Control and disruption: Eldritch Channeler
Pocket Gamer highlights Eldritch Channeler’s bouncing attacks, slowing effect, and ability to transform enemies. Those tools can contribute to both damage and crowd control, which may matter when a lane needs more than raw single-target damage.
Support and lane control: Arborean Emissary
Pocket Gamer describes Arborean Emissary as able to summon healing fairies and use damaging brambles to trap enemies. Those support and control roles can complement a damage-focused hero, particularly when your pair needs to survive pressure while slowing a push.

Choosing a two-hero pair
- Pair a damage or armor-answering hero with one that can stall, control, or support rather than choosing two heroes for the same job.
- Favor mobility when a map’s threats are spread across lanes and you expect to reposition manually.
- For a difficult stage, consider whether the pair can both stop a leak and handle the main enemy threat; a high-damage specialist may not cover every emergency alone.
Tower tier list
The official site confirms 18 towers, but it does not publish a strength ranking. The evidence available here does not establish enough about every tower’s performance, costs, or upgrade trade-offs to responsibly assign each one an S, A, or lower tier. Pocket Gamer’s named tower examples still show how to make a useful choice based on role.
Arcane Wizard: armor-piercing magic and tower support
In Pocket Gamer’s assessment, Arcane Wizard combines magic that penetrates armor with an instant-kill upgrade and a way to boost allied towers. Consider that role when physical defenses are an obstacle or when concentrating support around important towers suits the map.

Eldritch Channeler: bouncing attacks and control
Pocket Gamer points to the tower’s bouncing attacks, slowing effect, and enemy transformation. Those features suggest a control-oriented option for situations where multiple enemies need to be pressured, not merely a measure of its overall superiority.
Arborean Emissary: healing and bramble traps
Pocket Gamer describes healing fairies and damaging brambles that trap enemies. This makes it a support-and-control example to weigh against a tower that focuses on damage alone.

Build around the five-tower limit
- Cover the damage types your stage needs instead of filling all five slots with similar roles.
- Account for lane coverage and range: a tower’s value falls if it cannot meaningfully reach the threats you need it to address.
- Include control or unit support when your heroes need help holding a lane, and weigh upgrade investment against the rest of the loadout.
- Reassess the setup for the map and difficulty. A ranking that assumes active repositioning may not suit a hands-off approach.
Why rankings change with updates and stages
Ironhide’s official February 11, 2025 balance-patch notice says weaker towers and heroes were buffed. A later official Dragon Wars balance-news result describes campaign and stage updates, including tower-cost buffs and a shorter campaign stun duration for Murglum. These updates establish that balance can change; they do not, by themselves, establish a complete current ranking or the exact live patch state.
When comparing tier lists, check the stated version and date, whether the ranking covers the base campaign or DLC, the difficulty it assumes, and whether it expects active play. A community guide may explicitly rank for Impossible difficulty, for example, but that criterion should not be mistaken for a universal ranking across all modes.
