Yes. AION 2 is free to play on its global service, and NC says you can start without buying the game. Optional spending includes a monthly membership, a Battle Pass, and cosmetics. NC’s October 5, 2026 launch FAQ does not list prices, so treat reported dollar amounts as estimates to verify in your regional storefront.
What you have to pay to start
Nothing: NC’s October 5, 2026 Launch FAQ says, “AION 2 is free to play with an optional monthly membership.” The global version is available on Steam and PURPLE. The FAQ identifies North America, South America, Europe, and Japan as global server locations, and says both platforms share servers and in-game content. Official PC support is for Windows.
This describes the global service, not every regional release. NCSoft’s September 2025 announcement concerned Korea and Taiwan and gave a separate November 19 launch date for those regions; it should not be read as the global service’s launch schedule.
What can cost money
| Purchase | What is established | Price confidence |
|---|---|---|

| Membership | Optional and monthly; NC says it provides access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges. NC’s June 2026 update says the previous membership structure was consolidated into one Special Quai Membership tier. | NC’s FAQ does not state a price. AION2 Hub reports $15 per month from NC’s July 2026 business-model notice; verify the current local checkout price. |
| Battle Pass / Daeva Pass | NC confirms a Battle Pass. AION2 Hub reports a free Standard Track and paid Premium Track, with possible rewards including cosmetics, items, upgrade materials, and currency. | Current price and the effect of upgrade materials on progression are not confirmed in NC’s FAQ. |
| Cosmetics | Optional paid cosmetics. NC has named costumes, weapon skins, pets, and wings; its September 2025 announcement also says players can exchange in-game currency for premium currency. | Individual item prices and current availability are not stated in the cited official FAQ. |
| Founder’s Packs | AION2 Hub reported three digital Founder’s Pack tiers that included Early Access and digital items. | Reported historical prices were $24.99, $49.99, and $99.99. NC’s current FAQ does not confirm whether these offers remain available after launch. |
The figures for membership and Founder’s Packs above come from AION2 Hub’s July 22, 2026 report of NC notices, not from prices displayed in the retrieved official FAQ. Prices may differ by region, currency, tax, or storefront; check the live Steam or PURPLE listing before deciding what to spend.

Is AION 2 subscription based?
No subscription is required to play. The official FAQ describes membership as optional and monthly. NC’s current FAQ connects membership to access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges, rather than making membership a prerequisite for starting the game.
NC’s June 26, 2026 update says the earlier membership structure was streamlined into one Special Quai Membership tier. For the reported $15 monthly figure and further claimed benefits, the source is AION2 Hub’s account of NC’s July notice—not a price confirmed by the current official FAQ.

Is the Battle Pass required, and does it affect progression?
The Battle Pass is an optional purchase category, not a required payment to access the game. NC’s FAQ confirms a Battle Pass but does not spell out its current price or rewards. AION2 Hub reports that the Daeva Pass has a free Standard Track and a paid Premium Track, and that rewards may include upgrade materials as well as cosmetics, items, and currency.
Because upgrade materials are among the reported rewards, it would be inaccurate to describe the pass as cosmetics-only. The retrieved official FAQ does not establish how those materials affect progression, so the available information does not support a definitive claim that the pass is either pay-to-win or progression-neutral.

What do cosmetics and currency exchanges mean?
Cosmetics are appearance items: NC’s September 2025 Korea and Taiwan launch announcement names costumes, weapon skins, pets, and wings. NC described its model as offering “Memberships and Passes for convenience” alongside those cosmetics. The same announcement says players can exchange in-game currency for premium currency, but does not provide current item prices or a complete exchange-rate schedule.
These categories are distinct: cosmetics change appearance, while membership is associated with economy and currency-exchange access. The Battle Pass may include more than appearance rewards, according to AION2 Hub’s report, so not every paid category can be assumed to be purely cosmetic.

How much should you budget?
- To try the game: $0 for the base game, according to NC’s free-to-play FAQ.
- If you want economy access: membership is optional and monthly. AION2 Hub reports $15 per month, but confirm the amount and terms in your region’s current checkout.
- If you want pass rewards or cosmetics: these are optional categories, but the official FAQ does not give current prices. Check the in-game or storefront listing before purchasing.
- If you see a Founder’s Pack: the reported $24.99, $49.99, and $99.99 tiers were historical offers; do not assume they are still sold or priced the same in your region.
The global service is listed on Steam and PURPLE. Local currency, taxes, and live availability are matters for the storefront you use, not prices established by the FAQ.

NC’s official FAQ establishes the free-to-play base game and the existence of optional membership, Battle Pass, and paid cosmetics. It does not publish current prices or fully itemize membership benefits and pass rewards. For the reported prices and details beyond those FAQ statements, AION2 Hub is a secondary source reporting on NC’s business-model notices. Use the official regional store for the final purchase terms.
