Yes. You can use Cerebras-hosted inference through Cerebras Inference Cloud without buying or operating a Cerebras system: create an account, get an API key, and choose the trial or a paid plan. Cerebras also lists access through AWS Marketplace, OpenRouter, Hugging Face, and Vercel. The best route depends on where you already work and whether you are experimenting or serving a production application.

Review the current pricing and trial terms before adding payment details. As of October 7, 2026, Cerebras says adding a valid payment method makes a one-time $5 promotional credit available. It expires 30 days after activation. The account is not automatically charged or enrolled in paid use; when the credit expires or runs out, API and Playground access pause unless you separately purchase PayGo credits.

Create an API key in your account, then follow the Inference SDK documentation to connect your application. Cerebras describes its API as OpenAI-compatible and says adapting an application can take two code changes. That is the vendor’s setup description, not a guarantee that every OpenAI-based application will work without other changes.

Choose a usage tier that matches your workload. Cerebras positions Developer for development, evaluation, and experimentation, not production. Its Enterprise offering is aimed at production workloads.
Is Cerebras free to use?
There is a limited trial credit, not unlimited ongoing free inference. Cerebras’ current pricing page describes a one-time $5 credit after account creation and addition of a valid payment method; the credit expires 30 days after activation. For a production decision, compare the rate limits, latency and queue priority, model or custom-weight requirements, support, and any service commitments your application needs. Terms and model availability can change, so confirm them with Cerebras before committing.

Custom kernels or HPC applications: Follow the lower-level SDK documentation rather than the inference quick-start path.
These are distinct development paths: getting an inference API key is not the same as setting up training infrastructure or writing low-level kernels. Start with the documentation for the work you intend to do in the Cerebras developer portal.
