Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is scheduled to launch October 8, 2026, but as of October 7 it has not yet released. That means there is no full-game review or final performance assessment to give. Official details and a playable demo do establish what the game is, what its demo shows, and what to check before buying.
What kind of game is Hellraiser: Revival?
Saber Interactive describes Hellraiser: Revival as a single-player, first-person action horror survival game. You play Aidan, who turns to the Genesis Configuration—a puzzle box with supernatural powers—in an attempt to save his girlfriend, Sunny, from the Labyrinth. The official pitch combines exploration and puzzles with combat using the box and earthly weapons against wretches, deviants, cultists, and priests. How does it fit into Hellraiser?
The game tells a new story rather than directly continuing the plots of the first two films. Executive producer Nenad Tomic said the game was inspired by those films’ atmosphere, themes, and mythology, and that Clive Barker was involved from the beginning. The Genesis Configuration is central to both the story and the gameplay. Tomic’s Xbox Wire interview is the clearest official description of its relationship to the movies.
Game director Emil Esov describes the Scarlet Church, led by Marlowe, as a group seeking contact with the Cenobites and hoping to use the box to create a “debauched paradise.” The Unworthy—beings rejected by the Labyrinth—are also drawn to the configuration. Esov’s PlayStation Blog post frames the Cenobites as more morally complicated than ordinary horror villains: “Hellraiser separates itself from other pieces of horror media by having villains, the Cenobites, who aren’t so easily viewed as being morally bad.”

What the demo shows—and what it cannot prove
The free Steam demo released September 17, 2026. It covers the prologue and part of Episode 1, introducing puzzle solving, crafting, and combat. Steam warns that the demo is a pre-release build and that progress does not carry over to the full game. Its scope makes it useful for sampling the tone and basic systems, not for judging the complete campaign. Steam’s demo page has the current demo details.
Preview impressions
In a hands-on report on the demo, Meristation describes a split between exploration-focused action-survival areas—with puzzles, stealth, and combat—and more linear, dreamlike passages featuring jump scares and shifting environments. The previewer found the controls somewhat clumsy and the AI in need of improvement, while preferring exploration to action. Steam displayed 91% positive from 1,224 demo reviews when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a dated snapshot of user reviews for the demo, not a score for the full game, and it can change as reviews are added.
Release date, platforms, and editions
Saber lists an October 8, 2026 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Steam showed these pre-purchase prices on October 7; storefront prices can vary by region and change over time.

These are the Steam listing’s displayed US-dollar prices, not a guarantee of the price in another region or on another platform. Check the current storefront listing before purchase. Saber also estimates a playthrough at around 8–12 hours and says post-launch content is not planned “at this time.” Saber’s FAQ is the source for those campaign and post-launch estimates.
PC requirements: check the conflicting storage and CPU listings
Saber’s FAQ and Steam do not give the same minimum CPU or storage requirement. Both list Windows 10 64-bit (22H2 or later), 8 GB of minimum memory, and a GTX 1660/RX Vega 64-class minimum graphics card; Steam recommends an SSD. The CPU and storage figures below are reproduced separately rather than combined into a misleading single specification.

Because the developer FAQ and Steam disagree on two practical minimums, verify the current developer or store listing before installing or buying for a PC with limited storage or an older processor. These published requirements do not establish real-world performance or frame rates.

The Steam description additionally names torture, consensual mutilation, drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco use, non-explicit consensual sex, and narrative themes of suicide, domestic abuse, BDSM practices, and addiction. Readers sensitive to these subjects may want to review the official disclosures before playing.
Can this be called a review yet?
No. With the listed launch date still one day away, available evidence supports a preview of the premise, official features, demo, and published specifications—not a verdict on the finished campaign, technical performance, or overall quality. The demo gives an early look at the game’s mix of puzzles, crafting, combat, stealth, and surreal sequences, but its controls and AI impressions cannot be treated as final-release findings.
