That is a distinction in documented product scope and vendor positioning, not a result of independent head-to-head testing. The tools can also work together: Miro supports embedding Figma files, frames, and sections on its boards.
Which is better for design collaboration?
Figma is the more direct fit when people need to work together on product design and related design workflows. Its product plans cover Figma Design, FigJam, and Slides, alongside multiplayer editing, comments, and team features. The precise features available depend on the plan and seat type; see Figma’s pricing page.
Miro describes its workspace around workshops, diagrams, planning, and broader cross-functional work. That positioning makes it a candidate for teams whose collaboration starts with an open-ended shared canvas rather than a design file. The comparison is based on the vendors’ descriptions, not independent testing of which product is easier, faster, or more capable. Miro’s own comparison pages should be read as vendor claims, not neutral evaluations: Miro’s Figma comparison and Miro’s FigJam comparison.
Choose Figma when the shared work is a design artifact
- Your team’s core collaboration happens in product design workflows.
- Designers and other collaborators need to work in Figma Design, FigJam, or Slides, depending on the task and available seats.
- You want to evaluate plan-specific design features, comments, multiplayer editing, or team controls in one product’s pricing and feature information.
Consider Miro when the work starts on a broad canvas
- Your team needs a space for workshops, diagrams, or cross-functional planning.
- Participants need to contribute to a board-centered activity rather than primarily edit a product design.
- You have checked Miro’s current board and plan limits against the way your team intends to collaborate.
Neither product’s own marketing establishes an impartial winner across collaboration use cases. Miro’s comparison page says its Miro Value Assessment surveyed “over 40,000 Enterprise users,” but the retrieved page does not establish the study year, methodology, or a specific outcome statistic. That figure is not evidence that Miro outperforms Figma.

Can Miro and Figma work together?
Yes. Miro’s Help Center documents an integration that lets users embed Figma files, frames, and sections in Miro boards. This can put a design artifact in a board where a team is discussing or planning around it. The documentation describes embedding; it does not say the board replaces the Figma design workflow. See Miro’s Figma integration guide.
Embedding may be sufficient if your team wants to bring design work into a broader workshop or planning session while continuing to use Figma for the design itself. Check the integration documentation and your team’s access needs before relying on an embedded artifact as the collaboration method.

How do Figma and Miro plans compare?
Plan structure affects who can edit, what features are available, and what a team pays. Figma lists Starter as free and Professional, Organization, and Enterprise plans, with different seat categories and features. Miro’s pricing page describes a free plan for small teams with three editable boards and an Enterprise option for larger organizations that need advanced security, compliance, and custom controls.
| Product and plan information | What the vendor page states | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Figma Professional | At the time reflected on Figma’s pricing page, Full seats were listed at $16/month, Dev seats at $12/month, and Collab seats at $3/month. | Current price, monthly versus annual billing, seat eligibility, and included features. |
| Figma Organization | At the time reflected on Figma’s pricing page, Full seats were listed at $55/month and Collab seats at $5/month. | Current price, billing basis, seat eligibility, and plan-specific features. |
| Figma Enterprise | At the time reflected on Figma’s pricing page, Full seats were listed at $90/month and Collab seats at $5/month. | Current price, billing basis, seat eligibility, and plan-specific features. |
| Miro Free | Miro’s pricing page describes three editable boards for small teams. | Current board limits and any other free-plan restrictions. |
| Miro paid plans | A complete current paid-price schedule is not stated in the retrieved Miro pricing information. | Live prices, billing basis, plan limits, and eligible features on Miro’s pricing page. |
The figures for Figma are examples shown on its pricing page at the time reflected in the cited information, not a guarantee of today’s price or a like-for-like estimate of team cost. Figma also says paid-plan users can allow others to view and comment without purchasing extra seats. Confirm the live pricing page for billing basis, eligibility, and feature access before choosing a plan.

What should a team check before choosing?
Map the work and participant roles
List the activities your team needs to support: product design, prototyping-related collaboration, workshops, diagrams, planning, or a mix. Then identify who must edit, who only needs to comment, and who only needs to view. A product’s headline plan price is not enough to determine the right fit if your team has a mix of roles.
Calculate the plan and seat mix
Compare the number and type of seats your team needs with each vendor’s current plan definitions. For Figma, check the applicable Full, Dev, or Collab seat category and whether view or comment access can meet a participant’s needs. For Miro, verify the current board allowance and paid-plan details. Do not assume the same team size or access pattern will cost the same across the two products.

Check integration and administration requirements
If you want to use both tools, confirm that Miro’s documented Figma embedding supports your intended workflow. Separately, compare required administration and sharing controls with the plan details: Figma documents plan-dependent controls including SSO and link access controls, while Miro positions its higher-tier offering around enterprise security and custom controls. Validate exact requirements in current vendor documentation and against your organization’s procurement rules.

How to make the decision
- Start with the collaboration’s center of gravity. If the shared work is primarily product design, begin with Figma. If it is primarily workshops, diagrams, or cross-functional planning on a broad canvas, evaluate Miro.
- List editors, commenters, and viewers. Match those roles to each vendor’s current seat definitions and access options.
- Check plans against real limits. Verify Figma’s seat-specific pricing and Miro’s board and plan limits on their live pricing pages before comparing team cost.
- Test the handoff you actually need. If design artifacts need to appear in Miro, review the documented embedding workflow and confirm it supports your use case.
- Validate security and administration. Confirm the exact controls required by your team, organization, or procurement process against the plan you would buy.
