Use the transfer tool on the phone you’re moving to: HONOR Device Clone for Xiaomi to HONOR, or Xiaomi Mi Mover for HONOR to Xiaomi. Both can move selected content from another Android phone, but app installation does not guarantee that an app’s private data or chat history will come with it. Keep the old phone until you have checked the important data on the new one.
Choose the tool for your transfer direction

The receiving phone leads the process in both directions. The category list shown during setup is the best guide to what that specific phone pair can transfer.
Before you start
- Charge both phones. Xiaomi’s Mi Mover instructions specify at least 30% battery on each device.
- For Mi Mover, enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, install the latest Mi Mover version on both phones if needed, keep the phones close, and leave their screens on. Xiaomi says the transfer uses Wi-Fi Direct and does not consume mobile data.
- Keep both phones available and avoid interrupting the transfer. Do not reset, trade in, or erase the old phone until you have verified the result.
- Make a separate backup of anything irreplaceable, especially chat histories or app data. Those may not be included in a device-to-device transfer.
Transfer from Xiaomi to HONOR
- On the new HONOR phone, open Device Clone. Alternatively, go to Settings > System & updates > Device Clone.
- Choose This is the new device, then select the HONOR or other-Android source option shown on your phone.
- Follow the prompts to install or open the clone app on the old Xiaomi phone. Set it as the old device, then connect by scanning the code displayed on the HONOR phone or using the manual connection option.
- Select the categories offered on-screen and start the transfer. Leave both phones available until it finishes, then inspect the transferred content.
HONOR’s Malaysia support guide says the source Android device should run Android 7.0 or later. Menus and available categories can differ by model, region, and software version. HONOR’s Device Clone instructions describe the feature as moving basic data, including contacts, calendar, images, and videos.
Transfer from HONOR to Xiaomi
- Open Mi Mover on both phones. If it is missing, Xiaomi says to install the latest version on each.
- On the old HONOR phone, choose Old. On the new Xiaomi phone, choose New.
- Let the Xiaomi phone detect the HONOR phone, then tap its name to connect.
- Choose the categories to move, confirm the on-screen reminders, and start the transfer. Keep the phones close, screens on, and Mi Mover open until it completes.
Xiaomi says Mi Mover can use other-brand Android phones and iPhones as sources for a new Xiaomi phone, though compatibility varies by device and operating-system version. See Xiaomi’s Mi Mover instructions for its setup details and category list.

What happens to apps, app data, and chats?
These are different things: an app may be installed on the new phone without its account, settings, downloaded content, or private database being copied. Xiaomi includes apps among Mi Mover’s transferable items, but warns that app-data conflicts and compatibility issues can occur. It specifically says system-branch data and dual-app data cannot be transferred with Mi Mover.
HONOR’s English support page describes Device Clone as moving basic data; it does not promise that every third-party app or private app database will migrate. HONOR’s China support guidance says that, for other Android source phones, third-party apps may transfer but their data and WeChat chat history do not. That guidance is regional, so check the options on your own phones and use each app’s own export or migration feature for important data. For WeChat history, HONOR directs users to WeChat’s chat-history migration.

If something is missing or the transfer fails
- Mi Mover stops or errors: Xiaomi recommends updating both phones and trying again. Transfer smaller batches to identify whether a particular item is causing the problem.
- A contact or SMS does not move: Xiaomi recommends using Xiaomi Cloud to export and import contacts or SMS that repeatedly fail in Mi Mover.
- An app did not install: Xiaomi recommends trying to install that app individually. You may need to sign in again or restore its data through the app’s own account or backup system.
- System-branch or dual-app data is absent: Xiaomi lists these as unsupported for Mi Mover, not as a setting to enable.

On HONOR, the documented backup route is Settings > System & updates > Backup & Restore > Data backup. HONOR lists external storage where supported, HONOR Suite, and Google backup as options. For USB storage, check that the phone supports OTG and the storage device you plan to use; Google backup is subject to Drive storage limits. See HONOR’s backup instructions.

Before erasing the old phone, check the new one for contacts, messages, photos, files, app logins, and any chat history you need. If you use another backup method, confirm that it completed and that you can restore from it. HONOR Connect’s cross-brand file sharing is a separate way to send individual files, not a complete phone migration; actual support depends on conditions described in HONOR’s file-sharing guide.
