Warhorse Studios co-founder Martin Klíma argues that replacing half a game-development team with AI is a “fundamentally flawed idea.” As PC Gamer reported on October 6, 2026, he believes AI could instead help teams make larger games while keeping people involved. That is Klíma’s view, not a verified prediction about how the industry will develop or an official Warhorse policy statement.
What did Martin Klíma say about AI replacing developers?
Klíma, a co-founder of Warhorse Studios, rejected the idea that studios can simply cut their teams and use AI to do the same work. PC Gamer quoted him saying: “The idea that you can lay off half your staff and replace them with AI is a ‘fundamentally flawed idea, because it doesn’t work like that’.”
His alternative is that AI may augment a team’s work, while audience demand for larger games keeps teams in place. He told PC Gamer: “It can mean [the game] has more branching classes. It can mean it has more missions to play, whatever—people will still want to have this bigger game.” This is Klíma’s reasoning, not evidence that AI will necessarily make games larger or preserve staffing across studios.
Is Warhorse using AI to make games?
Warhorse has made a separate distinction between using AI during production and putting AI-generated content in a released game. In a Reddit AMA, the studio said: “Some team members find AI useful during early stages of production. However, we do not use AI-generated content in the final game and we have no plans to change this in the future.”

How does the translator controversy fit in?
A former Warhorse translator, Max H., said his role would become obsolete in favor of AI translation, according to PCGamesN. The outlet also reported that Warhorse declined to discuss individual personnel situations.

In a separate GamesRadar+ report, creative director Prokop Jirsa said: “This touches on internal HR matters, so I can’t comment on any present or past employee. That would be deeply unprofessional.” GamesRadar+ reported that Jirsa said the studio planned to have the same number of human translators as on Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and was hiring new translators.
GameSpot’s account of the Reddit AMA also says Warhorse was hiring English translators who would be “actual humans.” These studio statements and the former employee’s account address different aspects of the situation; the available reporting does not independently establish all details behind the employment decision.
