For a straightforward first Polaroid with full-size prints, choose the Polaroid Now Generation 3. Pick the Go Generation 3 for a smaller camera and smaller prints, the Now+ for app-based controls, the Mod for physical creative-effect controls, the Flip for sonar autofocus and exposure alerts, or the I-2 for extensive built-in manual control. Film compatibility and how you want to adjust a shot are the most useful ways to narrow the choice.

Compare the current Polaroid instant cameras

Polaroid’s current comparison page lists six models. The table compares their intended uses and stated features; it is not a ranking based on independent testing.

Model Best fit Practical differentiator Compatible film
Polaroid Now Generation 3 First-time users who want simple, full-size analog shooting Two-zone autofocus, self-timer, double exposure, and tripod mount i-Type and 600
Polaroid Now+ Generation 3 Beginners who want optional creative controls Bluetooth and app access to aperture priority, remote controls, manual mode, and more i-Type and 600
Polaroid Go Generation 3 Travel and portability Compact body, selfie mirror, self-timer, and double exposure Go film only
Polaroid Mod Creative users who want effects on the camera Dedicated mode dial for Split Shot, Motion Freeze, Double Exposure, and Light Painting; Split Shot accessory included i-Type and 600
Polaroid Flip Everyday shooting with focus assistance and exposure warnings Sonar autofocus, four-lens system, over- and underexposure alerts, and app connectivity i-Type and 600
Polaroid I-2 Experienced creators seeking manual exposure control Built-in controls and multiple exposure modes i-Type, 600, and SX-70

Film compatibility is important before you buy: Go film is exclusive to the Go, while the Now and Now+ accept i-Type and 600. Polaroid’s camera guide lists i-Type, 600, and SX-70 for the I-2. Check Polaroid’s camera comparison and camera guide for the current lineup and compatibility details.

Which Polaroid should you buy?

Choose the Now Generation 3 for uncomplicated full-size shooting

The Now Gen 3 is the most direct fit if you want a point-and-shoot experience rather than extra creative controls. Its two-zone autofocus, self-timer, double exposure, and tripod mount cover the key features Polaroid lists for everyday shooting. It takes both i-Type and 600 film.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Choose the Go Generation 3 when size matters most

The Go is Polaroid’s compact option: its listed weight is 251.9 g without film, and its dimensions are 106.5 × 83.8 × 64.6 mm. Its trade-off is the dedicated Go format; it cannot use the i-Type or 600 film used by the full-size models. If print format and ongoing film purchases matter, factor in that separate format before choosing it.

Choose the Now+ Generation 3 for app-linked control

The Now+ adds Bluetooth and app-based creative options, including aperture priority, remote controls, and manual mode. It is a fit if you want to begin with point-and-shoot use but also want settings to explore through a phone. It accepts i-Type and 600 film, like the standard Now.

Choose the Mod for effects on the camera itself

The Mod puts Split Shot, Motion Freeze, Double Exposure, and Light Painting on a dedicated mode dial, rather than making an app the main route to those effects. Polaroid says the Split Shot accessory is included. It uses i-Type and 600 film.

Choose the Flip for sonar autofocus and exposure alerts

The Flip pairs sonar autofocus and a four-lens system with over- and underexposure alerts. Polaroid also lists app connectivity. It suits everyday use if those focus and exposure cues appeal to you; it takes i-Type and 600 film.

What separates the Now from the Now+?

Both models use i-Type and 600 film. The Now Gen 3 is the simpler point-and-shoot choice; the Now+ Gen 3 adds Bluetooth and app controls, including aperture priority, remote controls, and manual mode. Choose between them based on whether you want those optional settings, not on film format.

What this comparison can and cannot establish

This is a feature and workflow comparison based on Polaroid’s product and support information, not a hands-on test. The manufacturer’s audience suggestions can help narrow the choice, but they do not establish which camera produces the sharpest or best-looking images. No independent comparative test establishing an image-quality winner is cited here.

Polaroid states that Go Gen 3, Now Gen 3, and Now+ Gen 3 can shoot up to 15 film packs per charge. That is the manufacturer’s estimate, not an independently measured runtime.
