On a PS5 Pro, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality. PlayStation says it is enabled by default, so check its current setting before changing anything. PSSR works only in games that support it.
Enable or disable PSSR in the PS5 Pro settings
- From the PS5 Pro home screen, open Settings.
- Select Screen and Video, then Video Output.
- Choose Enhance PSSR Image Quality and enable it. To switch it off, return to the same option and disable it.
The setting is available on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group, which is the PS5 Pro. You do not need an accessory or an additional purchase if you already own the console. PlayStation’s setup guidance is in its PS5 resolution and video output support page.
What the setting does—and what it does not do
Enhance PSSR Image Quality applies to PS5 Pro games that support PSSR; enabling it does not add the feature to every game. PlayStation describes PSSR as improving image stability and clarity in fine details, but says results vary by title. The official PS5 Pro page lists supported games and is updated as support changes, so check it for the current list rather than treating any examples as exhaustive.
Examples listed under Enhanced PSSR include Resident Evil Requiem, SILENT HILL f, SILENT HILL 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Control, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077.

Check the image and troubleshoot unexpected effects
For a game listed as supporting PSSR, compare the image with the option on and off. Pay attention to stability during motion, fine-detail clarity and any unexpected visual effects; the result can differ between games. If a supported game shows unexpected visual effects on your monitor or another display, PlayStation recommends turning the setting off from the same Video Output menu.
Mark Cerny, Lead Architect for PS5 and PS5 Pro, said an upgraded version of PSSR would roll out globally to PS5 Pro players in the coming weeks in a March 16, 2026 PlayStation.Blog post. That post also advises that the option can be turned off if unexpected visual effects occur.
