The Space Rig is your between-mission hub in Deep Rock Galactic: use its facilities to plan a mission, manage gear and progression, or simply spend time with your crew. On the main floor, the Abyss Bar adds drinks, music, dancing, and a barrel-kicking mini-game. You can explore the hub without starting a mission.
What is the Space Rig for?
The Space Rig is where your dwarf returns between missions. Its rooms and terminals support the practical work of preparing for another assignment, alongside optional places to socialize and relax. The exact layout and facility list can change with updates, so treat this as a guide to the main purposes rather than an exhaustive inventory.
Plan your next mission
Mission and assignment selection lets you choose what to do next. Deep Dives and other mission-related options are also part of the hub’s broader role, though which choices are available depends on your progression and the current game build.
Manage equipment and appearance
Use equipment facilities to adjust your loadout and upgrades, and customization facilities to change your dwarf’s appearance. These are the main stops when you want to prepare your character rather than launch straight into another mission.

The Space Rig also includes a Med Bay and memorial-related features, as well as leisure areas. For a room-by-room overview, the Space Rig wiki page is useful, but it warns that its information may not be up to date and reflects a Season 3 update context.

What can you do at the Abyss Bar?
The Abyss Bar is on the Space Rig’s main floor. Robot bartender Lloyd serves drinks, while the nearby activities make the bar a place to hang out with other players rather than a required step in mission preparation.
- Order drinks: Choose from beers with different purposes and effects. Some are associated with mission buffs; others produce playful effects in the hub.
- Play music and dance: Use the jukebox and dance interaction for a social break between missions.
- Try the barrel hoop: Kick barrels toward the moving hoop and incinerator target. It is an optional mini-game, not a progression requirement.
The bar’s wiki page gives more detail on drink categories and activities, but treat specific prices, unlocks, and effects as potentially subject to change: Abyss Bar.

How should you choose a beer?
Start with what you want from the drink. Daily specials are described as providing buffs, while craftable beers can cause amusing effects in the Space Rig. Randoweisser is an exception within the craftable-beer category. Beer potency also affects intoxication, so a drink can change how your dwarf behaves as well as serve a practical or social purpose.
- For a mission benefit: Look for a daily special and read its current in-game description before setting out.
- For a social or comedic effect: Choose a craftable beer whose description suits the kind of hub activity you want.
- If you want to avoid intoxication: Check the drink’s in-game description and potency rather than relying on an old list of values.
Historical official update notes recorded Red Rock Blaster as granting +30% maximum health, Skullcrusher Ale as granting +50% pickaxe damage, and Dark Morkite as increasing Morkite mined by +20%. Those figures describe the update context in which the notes were published; they are not verified recommendations for the current build. Check the drink description in your game for the effect that applies to your version. The official update archive is useful for historical changes.
