The ending is determined in the final puzzle room, not by a single dialogue choice. The Steam Community walkthrough identifies four outcomes—Imprisoned, Escaped, Released, and Lost—and says you can revisit the finale after your first completion using Change your fate on the main menu.
How the ending system works
In The Room Three, you search for the Null on a remote island and in a mansion where the Craftsman sets trials. Fireproof Games describes the mansion hub’s unique puzzles as influencing the player’s fate and alternate ending: Fireproof Games’ official game page.
The detailed route steps below come from Kuro’s Steam Community walkthrough, updated July 11, 2023, rather than an official Fireproof guide: Kuro’s walkthrough on Steam Community. The guide says that after completing the game once, choose Change your fate from the main menu to return to the central chamber near the final room. Your inventory is saved from before that room, so you do not need to replay the whole story for each ending.

Two optional-puzzle rewards are used to open the alternate routes: a star-shaped Mysterious Artifact and an octagonal Mysterious Artifact. The walkthrough says to solve the same final table puzzle on each attempt; afterward, two artifact pillars rise. Their left/right placement and the final-room lights determine which route is available.
All four endings and how to reach them
Use the table to compare the required artifacts and final-room actions. The left and right directions are given while facing the gravestone, as specified in the walkthrough.

What changes between the routes
The main difference is how much optional puzzle work you do before choosing the final doorway. Imprisoned requires no artifact; Escaped and Released each use one artifact; Lost requires both and an extra interaction at the light panel. The walkthrough provides the actions, but Fireproof’s official page does not list or rank the specific endings.
Neither the official description nor the cited walkthrough establishes one outcome as the “true,” best, or canon ending. Choose based on which route you want to see, rather than treating the names as an official ranking.
