The Stages SB200 connects over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and is named as compatible with TrainingPeaks Virtual, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, Zwift, and TrainerRoad. Stages recommends a spindown before the first ride, describes automatic calibration during regular use, and lists straightforward cleaning and inspection tasks. Its app release notes dated October 5, 2026, add SB200 manager support in version 4.2.0.

Which apps and devices work with the Stages SB200?

Stages’ SB200 product page identifies Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and names TrainingPeaks Virtual, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, Zwift, and TrainerRoad as supported platforms. Stages also says workouts can be delivered from head units and other apps. The product information does not provide a feature-by-feature matrix for the SB200, so confirm in the current app and bike documentation whether your intended setup provides data recording, resistance control, or both.

Do not use the SB20 compatibility table as an SB200 guarantee. The Stages app compatibility documentation retrieved for this comparison is explicitly for the SB20; its listed app functions and connection details should not be assumed to apply to the SB200.

What to verify before connecting

  • Confirm that the app or head unit names the SB200, not only the SB20 or Stages bikes generally.
  • Check whether the app uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and whether it expects to receive power and cadence, control resistance, or do both.
  • Identify which device or app you will use to manage bike settings and firmware.

Does the Stages Cycling app support the SB200?

Yes. Stages Cycling app release notes dated October 5, 2026, identify version 4.2.0 and say that “SB200 manager” support was added. The same release notes also describe a redesigned ride page and the ability to save app-recorded rides offline for later upload; those are release-specific details and may change in later versions. See the Stages Cycling App Release Notes.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

A separate Stages app download support page, last modified March 21, 2025, lists the SB20 but not the SB200. Because the app release notes are newer and explicitly name the SB200, they are the stronger evidence for current SB200 manager support. The older page is available at Download Stages Cycling app.

How do you calibrate the SB200 with a spindown?

Stages recommends a spindown before your first ride. It says the bike also performs spindowns automatically during regular riding to help maintain accurate data. According to Stages, the automatic process is triggered after reaching at least 85 RPM and then coasting for 10–15 seconds. The support page does not show a publication date for these conditions.

Run a manual spindown

  1. Open the Stages Cycling app and connect to the SB200.
  2. Open Diagnostics, choose Spin down, then select Start.
  3. Pedal until the app’s procedure reaches 110 RPM, then stop pedaling while the test runs.
  4. When the process finishes, select Ok.

Stages explains that the test measures drivetrain belt drag, which can change as the bike is used. Follow the procedure in the SB200 spindown instructions.

What maintenance does the SB200 need?

Stages says the chain-free drivetrain has no chain to lubricate and no drivetrain tension that needs regular inspection or adjustment. The main routine task is cleaning, especially after workouts that leave sweat on the bike. Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water on exterior surfaces.

  • Inspect pedals and cleats for wear; repair or replace them as needed.
  • Check for available firmware updates and install them.

Annual and sweat-related checks

  • Replace the bar tape and inspect the handlebars for corrosion each year.
  • If you sweat heavily, inspect the handlebars every six months.
  • Replace the handlebars immediately if you see corrosion.

These intervals and care instructions come from Stages’ SB200 maintenance guidance.

What should you do if resistance briefly drops?

Stages identifies non-drive-side belt slip as a likely cause of momentary resistance loss; error code 2 may also appear. Its documented remedy adjusts the non-drive-side belt tensioner and then recalibrates the bike.
