Ubisoft’s published guideposts range from 1080p at 30 FPS on Low to 4K at 60 FPS on Ultra, each with quality upscaling. Use those as starting points—not guarantees—and treat published RTX 4070 results as one dated comparison rather than a promise for your system.
Start with your resolution and frame-rate target
Ubisoft’s PC specifications pair example hardware tiers with target resolutions, frame rates, and quality levels. Every tier lists quality upscaling, 16 GB of dual-channel memory, and a 65 GB SSD requirement. These are published reference targets, not guaranteed performance on every PC.

These example configurations and targets come from Ubisoft’s August 16, 2024 PC specifications. Match your actual goal first. If you have a 1080p display and want a steady 60 FPS, the recommended tier is a more useful reference than an Ultra preset intended for 4K. If your system falls short, lower demanding quality options or move to a compatible, more performance-oriented upscaling mode before deciding that new hardware is necessary.
A published RTX 4070 profile to use as a reference
PCGamesN’s settings guide, updated August 15, 2025, provides a specific profile that can help RTX 4070 owners establish a starting point. Its test PC had an Intel Core i7-11700F, GeForce RTX 4070 with 12 GB of VRAM, and 32 GB of DDR4-3200 memory. The settings are not a universal recommendation, and the guide’s results should not be expected on a different system or game build.

At 2560×1440, PCGamesN reported an average of 91.7 FPS for the listed profile and 67.4 FPS for a second run using medium ray-tracing presets. Both figures are results from that publisher’s test rig; the difference does not isolate the effect of one setting. See the PCGamesN settings guide for its test details.
Choose an upscaler your GPU and game build support
Ubisoft lists NVIDIA DLSS 3.5, Intel XeSS 1.3, and AMD FSR 3.0 for the PC version, including upscaling and frame-generation support for XeSS and FSR. Available choices can depend on your graphics card and installed game build, so use the options actually shown in the game’s graphics menu. Ubisoft’s specifications use quality upscaling in every hardware tier.

- Start with Quality mode if your performance target is already close. If you are missing it, try a more performance-oriented mode and compare the image for softness, ghosting, or other artifacts.
- Do not assume equivalent image quality between DLSS, XeSS, and FSR. Compare the result on your own display and hardware.
- Separate rendered performance from generated frames. First find a stable baseline without relying on frame generation. Then enable it, if supported, and judge responsiveness and visual stability for yourself.
Ubisoft’s February 6, 2025 Title Update 1.5.1 notes add DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs. Ubisoft also describes a faster single Frame Generation model with reduced memory use for RTX 50- and 40-series cards, along with new transformer models for Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and DLAA on GeForce RTX GPUs. Check your current menu and driver support rather than assuming a feature is available on every RTX card.
Understand the ray-tracing and frame-generation trade-offs
Ubisoft announced ray-traced global illumination, reflections, and shadows, as well as NVIDIA RTX Dynamic Illumination (RTXDI). Its PC feature list also includes DLSS 3.5 with Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, and Super Resolution. Those features can affect the balance between image quality and performance, but the cited sources do not provide a current per-setting performance-impact table for all hardware.

- RTXDI and ray-traced effects: These are lighting features, not a single quality preset. If you need more headroom, compare the available ray-tracing options in the game rather than assuming one toggle explains your frame rate.
- Ray Reconstruction: This is an NVIDIA DLSS feature. Its availability depends on compatible hardware and the installed build; test the image rather than treating it as a guaranteed performance boost.
- Frame Generation: It can raise displayed frame rate on supported hardware, but generated output is not the same as improving the underlying rendering baseline. Consider how responsive and artifact-free the game feels, not just the displayed FPS.
Ubisoft’s Steam update archive lists Title Update 1.6 on May 15, 2025, with RTXDI and Ray Reconstruction improvements, and a fix for a crash involving FSR3 Frame Generation with FreeSync Premium Pro HDR. It also lists Hotfix 5.3 on April 3, 2025, citing improved performance and stability for NVIDIA GPU users. These dated notes illustrate why version-sensitive behavior can change; they do not establish the live build on October 7, 2026.
Tune settings with a repeatable test
PCGamesN notes that Star Wars Outlaws has no in-game benchmark tool and that tuning can require trial and error. You can still make comparisons useful by holding the scene and most settings constant.

- Pick a repeatable route or location. Use the same area and actions for each comparison so that you are not comparing different scenes.
- Record your baseline. Note resolution, upscaler and mode, frame-generation state, major graphics settings, and the performance you observe.
- Change one group at a time. For example, adjust ray-tracing options separately from shadows or volumetric effects. This helps you see which change coincides with a difference.
- Check both frame rate and image quality. Look for unwanted softness, ghosting, flicker, or other artifacts as well as smoother output.
- Keep the settings that meet your goal. Repeat the route after the change; if the result is inconsistent, avoid drawing conclusions from a single pass.
PCGamesN describes using CapFrameX for capture and mentions NVIDIA and AMD overlays as monitoring options. They are examples, not requirements; the important part is making a consistent comparison on your own PC.

Ubisoft lists a 65 GB SSD requirement and 16 GB of dual-channel memory across its PC tiers. PCGamesN cautions that installing on an HDD may lead to unstable performance and longer loading times. If your game is on a hard drive or your SSD is short on free space, check those basics first. The sources do not establish that replacing an already suitable SSD will increase frame rate.

Consider a GPU upgrade only if your current hardware cannot meet the resolution and frame-rate target you actually want after reasonable settings and upscaler adjustments. Ubisoft’s example GPUs provide a point of comparison, not a requirement to buy a particular model. Hardware needs also depend on the rest of the PC and the game’s current software environment.
