To add fighters in Tap Force, use the game’s recruitment routes: collect rare hero shards, open capsules, spend faction orbs, and build elite hero shard progress toward a selectable elite cartridge. The exact rates, prices, and rewards can change, so check the current in-game recruitment and event screens before spending resources.
Tap Force character recruitment routes at a glance
| Route | What you can get | Targeting or choice | Guide-reported threshold or rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rare hero shards | A rare hero summon | Not stated by the guide | 20 shards per summon |
| Capsules | Random fighter | Random | About 3% elite rate; guide lists 400 gems for one capsule or 2,000 gems for five |
| Faction orbs | Fighter draw from selected factions | Faction-targeted, with Cobra and Griffin unavailable as standalone choices | About 7% elite rate |
| Elite hero shards | Random elite summon | Random | 50 shards per summon; guide says 100 orbs produce 50 shards through the orb progress bar |
| Select cartridge | One chosen fighter from four offered elite fighters | Choice among four random options | 1,000 elite shards, equivalent to 20 random elite summons |
These figures and mechanics are reported by the community guide Combat Codex’s Tap Force summons guide, not official developer documentation. Treat them as a reference rather than guaranteed current rates or prices.
How to use each recruitment method
Rare hero shards
Look for rare hero shards in event rewards. The guide describes blue shards and says 20 are needed for one rare hero summon. This is a separate path from earning elite hero shards through orb progress. Check the event’s reward details and the relevant in-game summon screen to confirm what is currently available.
Capsules
Capsules provide random fighters, so they are the straightforward option when you are willing to accept any eligible result. Combat Codex reports an elite rate of about 3% and lists a price of 400 gems for one capsule or 2,000 gems for five. Both the rate and gem cost may change; verify the displayed offer in game before using gems.

Faction orbs
Faction orbs let you narrow the draw to selected factions, making them more targeted than capsules. The guide reports an approximate 7% elite rate and says Cobra and Griffin cannot be selected individually. It also says orbs are not directly purchasable except through a rotating shop offer. Since shop offers and faction rules can change, confirm the current choices and terms on the orb screen.
Elite hero shards and the select cartridge
Using faction orbs also builds progress toward elite hero shards, according to the guide: 100 orbs yield 50 shards through the progress bar, and 50 shards summon one random elite. The longer-term milestone is a select cartridge: at 1,000 elite shards, the guide says you receive four random elite fighter options and choose one. This provides a choice, but it does not let you name any fighter in the game; the available selection is limited to the four offered.

Where to look for recruitment resources
The currency guide lists achievements, guild achievements, casino rewards, collect actions, guild shop rolls, mail, and market offers as possible sources of faction orbs. It also describes capsules and orbs as ways to obtain fighters, while hero shards can help fuse and upgrade specific fighters. Availability depends on the current game version and events, so check the relevant screens rather than assuming every source is active. See Combat Codex’s Tap Force currency guide for its list of reported sources.
Why duplicate fighters can still be useful
A new pull is not necessarily wasted if it duplicates a fighter you already own. The promotion guide says duplicate copies can be fused to raise a fighter’s rank and maximum level cap. That makes duplicates useful for progression, although the value depends on which fighter you receive and your current roster. Details are in Combat Codex’s fighter promotion guide.

Choosing a route without overspending
- Want a random fighter? Capsules offer random pulls; compare the current in-game cost and terms before spending gems.
- Want to focus on a faction? Use faction orbs when available, bearing in mind that the guide reports Cobra and Griffin cannot be selected alone.
- Building toward a specific elite choice? Track elite shard progress toward the cartridge, but remember its four choices are random options rather than a guaranteed named fighter.
- Looking for a low-cost path? Check events, achievements, guild rewards, mail, and other current resource sources before buying anything. The currency guide lists these as possible orb sources, but does not establish that each is always available.
- Considering a duplicate? Copies can contribute to promotion, so assess them as roster progression rather than assuming every duplicate is useless.
Combat Codex also characterizes Cobra and Griffin fighters as harder to obtain, citing lower orb rates and higher capsule pity thresholds than for other factions. These are community-guide claims, not verified developer figures; consult the current game screens for any faction-specific rates or pity rules.
