There is no verified evidence that Star Wars Outlaws runs faster on Steam or Ubisoft Connect. The available official information sets common PC requirements and shows a historical matching version number for both packages, but it does not provide a controlled comparison of frame rates, stutter, loading times, or stability. Steam buyers also still need Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft account.
Does Star Wars Outlaws run better on Steam or Ubisoft Connect?
The performance winner is unknown. No controlled same-PC test of current Steam and Ubisoft Connect builds establishes a difference in average FPS, frame-time consistency, loading, or crashes. That means neither “Steam is faster” nor “the builds perform identically” is supported by the evidence available here.
Ubisoft’s published PC targets describe resolution, graphics preset, and expected frame rate rather than a storefront-specific benchmark. Those targets do not show how either launcher performs on an individual PC.
What changes when you buy through Steam?
Steam does not eliminate Ubisoft’s launcher requirement. Its Star Wars Outlaws listing says: “Requires 3rd-Party Account: Ubisoft Connect launcher (Supports Linking to Steam Account).” Ubisoft’s PC store listing also says a Ubisoft account and Ubisoft Connect application are required for PC content.

The unusual “RX-7600XTX” name is reproduced as Ubisoft published it; check the linked specification before relying on it for a hardware purchase. Steam’s listing also gives minimum and recommended requirements and specifies a 64-bit Windows system and DirectX 12.
Features and updates do not settle the storefront comparison
Ubisoft lists ray-traced global illumination, reflections and shadows, NVIDIA RTX Dynamic Illumination, DLSS 3.5, Intel XeSS 1.3, AMD FSR 3.0, uncapped frame rates, customization, 21:9 cinematic display, and multi-monitor and ultrawide support. Feature availability is not a guarantee that every hardware-and-settings combination will meet a particular frame rate.

Ubisoft’s February 6, 2025 Title Update 1.5.1 notes label both PC (Ubisoft Connect) and Steam packages version 1.0.5.1, each with a 3.30GB update. The update added NVIDIA 50-series support, DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50-series, faster single Frame Generation with reduced memory use for RTX 50- and 40-series, and updated transformer models for DLSS Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and DLAA on GeForce RTX GPUs. This is a dated snapshot; matching version labels then do not establish current build parity or equal performance.
Ubisoft’s announcement feed also lists Title Update 1.6 package sizes of 10.21GB for Ubisoft Connect and 8.5GB for Steam. Different download sizes alone do not demonstrate a performance or content difference. A PC Hotfix 5.3 entry dated April 3, 2025 says it improved performance and stability for NVIDIA GPU users, but does not quantify the effect or compare launchers.

How to compare the versions fairly
A useful comparison needs more than two FPS readings taken under different conditions. For a credible test, match the hardware, graphics settings, driver, game build, save and in-game location, background processes, and shader-cache state. Then record average FPS, 1% lows or frame-time behavior, load times, and crashes or other stability issues for both versions.
Without that controlled test, treat storefront performance claims as unverified. If you are troubleshooting one version, first check that it is fully updated and that your PC meets the target tier relevant to your chosen resolution and settings; changing storefronts is not an evidence-based performance fix.
