What is the SPBYCAP index today?
The latest dated official observation is 32,170.31 ARS on September 14, 2026, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. The index is calculated in Argentine pesos, and this figure is the price-return index level. An October 7, 2026 level is not established by the available official data, so the September observation should not be presented as today’s quote.
On September 14, 2026, S&P also displayed a one-day price return of -1.68%, a one-year price return of 36.87%, and a year-to-date price return of -23.13%. These are returns for the stated periods, not alternative index levels.
What does the S&P/BYMA Argentina General Construction Index track?
The index measures stocks in the S&P/BYMA Argentina General Index that S&P classifies in construction-related industries using GICS. The categories include Construction Materials, Building Products, Construction & Engineering, Homebuilding, and related industries. It is therefore a sector slice of the domestic equity universe—not a measure of all construction activity in Argentina or a basket of building supplies. - Weighting: Float-adjusted market capitalization.
- Currency and timing: Calculated in Argentine pesos at end of day.
- Rebalancing: Annually in March.
- Launch and history: Launched October 7, 2019, with a first value date of January 11, 2019. Data before launch is hypothetical back-tested performance, not live index history.
The price-return Bloomberg ticker is SPBYCAP; the total-return Bloomberg ticker is SPBYCAT. Price-return and total-return series are different measures, so identify which one a chart displays before comparing its performance.
How to read the SPBYCAP index chart
- Open the official S&P index page and use its graph or table view.
- Select or confirm the return series. SPBYCAP refers to price return; the page also offers a total-return selection, associated with ticker SPBYCAT.
- Check the chart’s latest observation date. The latest level stated above is dated September 14, 2026, and should not be relabeled as an October 7 quote.
- Read the vertical values as ARS index points, not as the price of a single share or the market value of the construction industry.
- When comparing periods or benchmarks, align observation dates, currencies, and return bases. A price-return series should not be compared with a total-return series as though they were equivalent.
What do the reported performance and risk figures show?
S&P’s performance table gives a separate set of price-return windows as of August 31, 2026. Returns were -9.79% for one month, -9.61% for three months, -19.72% year to date, and 26.30% for one year. Annualized returns were 41.01% over three years and 62.98% over five years.

For the same August 31, 2026 date, reported annualized risk was 52.28% over three years and 47.90% over five years. S&P defines risk here as the standard deviation calculated using monthly values. These figures describe historical variation; they do not establish future performance.
How many companies are in the index?
S&P reported six constituents. The largest constituent represented 82.5% of the index, while the top ten represented 100.0%. Because there are only six constituents, the top-ten figure covers the whole index. The reported characteristics do not identify the current constituent names or give a complete current weight list, so they are not enough to determine which companies make up that concentration.
