If Crown Control crashes, will not launch, or runs slowly on Steam, start by checking your PC or Mac against the game’s listed requirements, then work through Steam’s general steps: update the operating system and drivers, verify the installed files, and close non-essential background software. These are troubleshooting checks—not confirmed fixes for a known Crown Control bug.
Check whether your Windows PC or Mac meets the game’s requirements
The Steam listing identifies Crown Control as a single-player action roguelite for Windows and macOS. Compare your system with the requirements for the operating system you use; the figures below are the developer’s published requirements, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or trouble-free operation.

These specifications are listed on the Crown Control Steam page. Steam cautions that a system just at or below a game’s requirements may have launch or performance problems, and meeting requirements does not ensure high FPS.
If Crown Control will not start or crashes at launch
A game that appears stuck at “Preparing to Launch” may be closing immediately after startup. Steam’s launch guidance recommends checking requirements, updating Windows and device drivers, verifying the game files, and disabling non-essential software. Try the checks in this order, changing one thing at a time so you can tell whether the symptom changes.

- Compare your system with the requirements. Check your OS version, processor, memory, and graphics hardware against the Windows or macOS column above. A system below the listed minimum may not be able to run the game reliably.
- Install operating-system and graphics-driver updates. On Windows, use Windows Update and the usual update route from your graphics hardware vendor. Restart if prompted, then try launching again. Steam’s cited launch guidance specifically recommends updating Windows and device drivers; it does not identify a Crown Control-specific driver issue.
- Verify the installed game files in Steam. In your Steam Library, open Crown Control’s Properties and use the installed-files verification option. Wait for Steam to finish checking and repairing files, if needed, before launching again.
- Temporarily close non-essential background programs. Close applications you do not need, then test the game. This can help identify software interference. Do not disable security protection wholesale.
- If it still fails, use the game’s Steam support route. Open the game in your Steam Library and choose its support option. Include the exact error message, operating system and version, CPU and GPU, graphics-driver version, and whether the crash occurs before or after the first game window appears.

If Crown Control runs but has low FPS or stutters
Steam Support notes that reduced FPS can have many causes and can be difficult to diagnose without examining the individual machine. Compare your hardware with the game’s requirements, then use available resolution and graphics settings to see whether a change affects performance.

- Check your hardware against the requirements. Use the correct Windows or macOS specifications above. A machine meeting the minimum may still struggle with settings or a resolution it cannot handle comfortably.
- Lower one available graphics or resolution setting. Change only one setting at a time, play under the same conditions, and compare the result. This helps identify whether that change matters on your system.
- Keep a record of what changed. Note the setting and the observed effect. If lowering settings makes no difference, avoid assuming that a particular graphics option or hardware upgrade is the answer.
- Contact the game’s support team if the problem persists. Describe your operating system, CPU, GPU, driver version, current settings, and when the slowdown occurs. Steam’s performance guidance recommends contacting the game’s support team when general troubleshooting does not resolve a third-party game’s performance problem.
The sources available do not document Crown Control’s graphics-menu labels, a measured FPS target, or an optimal configuration. Steam’s performance page mentions the -autoconfig launch option for Valve-developed games; Crown Control is listed as developed by GameDevMichael, so that instruction should not be treated as a confirmed fix for this title.
