Defeat a boss in Stellar Blade’s main story to unlock its battle data for Boss Challenge. You do not have to finish the campaign to access the basic mode; seeing the ending is required only to fight on Hard difficulty.
How to unlock Boss Challenge fights
- Defeat a boss in the main story. Boss Challenge progression uses battle data from bosses you have already defeated.
- Select that boss in Boss Challenge. The official announcement describes access through previously earned battle data; it does not say that you must complete the full campaign to enter the base mode.
- Choose a difficulty. Normal is available without the stated ending condition. To fight on Hard, first see the game’s ending.
The unlock rule is tied to each boss’s battle data, rather than a stated campaign-completion percentage.

Choose your loadout and review each fight
Before a challenge, you can use Eve’s existing gear or select one of the available presets. Shift Up describes a minimum preset as a deliberately constrained setup and a maximum preset with all skills and stats boosted. The announcement does not list exact preset values or every preset variant, so treat them as broad options rather than precise build specifications.
After a fight, the game automatically analyzes battle data. The displayed metrics can include fight time, perfect parries and dodges, and consumable use, letting you review your performance and compare results with friends.

Boss Challenge rewards
Neurolink Suit
Clear all bosses in the original Boss Challenge on Normal difficulty or higher to earn Eve’s Neurolink Suit. This condition applies to the full set of bosses, not simply one successful challenge.
Royal Guard Suit
Mann was added later as a Boss Challenge opponent. PlayStation’s May 15, 2025 announcement says overcoming his trial earns the Royal Guard Suit. This is a separate reward condition from the Neurolink Suit’s all-boss clear.

Boss roster and platform context
The original mode announcement describes 19 bosses from the base game. That figure refers to the original base-game roster; it should not be read as a confirmed total for the later, updated mode, which includes Mann. The cited announcements do not establish a complete current roster count.
The original Boss Challenge announcement described availability on PS5 with the May 24, 2024 update. Stellar Blade launched on PC on June 11, 2025, and PlayStation said additional PC content was also made available on PS5 through a patch. The PC announcement specifically confirms Mann’s Boss Challenge trial. - Seeing the ending unlocks Hard difficulty; the official rules do not state that it is necessary for the basic mode.
