If you already own the PS4 KINGDOM HEARTS All-In-One Package, you can play it on a PS5, subject to PlayStation’s compatibility caveat. If you’re buying specifically for PS5, the new KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] is scheduled to release October 8, 2026, and includes KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. As of October 7, 2026, that release date is still in the future, so its real-world performance and availability are not yet verified.
Kingdom Hearts PS4 vs. PS5: what’s included?
The key difference established by the official listings is the package, not a confirmed graphics or performance upgrade. The PS4 All-In-One Package and the scheduled PS5 Collection share the two older collections, but the PS5 bundle explicitly includes KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind.
| Package | Included games and content | Platform and timing |
|---|---|---|
| PS4 KINGDOM HEARTS All-In-One Package | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III. Re Mind is listed separately as an add-on. | PlayStation Store lists it as a PS4 title, released March 27, 2019; playable on PS5 with a compatibility warning. PlayStation Store listing |
| PS5 KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] | HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. | Square Enix scheduled it for October 8, 2026. As of October 7, 2026, that date has not arrived. Square Enix collection announcement |
What the two collections contain
HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX contains KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, Re:Chain of Memories, KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX, the 358/2 Days HD cutscene compilation, Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX, and the Re:coded HD cutscene compilation. HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue contains Dream Drop Distance HD, the χ Back Cover movie, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage. Square Enix’s collection description
Can I play the PS4 version on PS5?
Yes. PlayStation lists the PS4 All-In-One Package as playable on PS5, but warns that some features available on PS4 may be absent. That is a compatibility statement, not a promise that every feature behaves identically. PlayStation Store compatibility notice

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you own a physical PS4 copy, the PS5 must have a disc drive, and the disc has to remain inserted while you play. A PS4 disc cannot be used on a PS5 Digital Edition. PlayStation’s PS5 backward-compatibility guidance
Is the PS5 version an upgrade?
The official information available does not establish a PS4-versus-PS5 comparison for frame rate, resolution, loading times, HDR, or graphics. The PS4 Store warning only says that some PS4 features may be absent; it does not promise enhancements. Square Enix’s general statement that game content is the same across different console versions does not document the specific technical behavior of these Kingdom Hearts releases. Because the PS5 Collection is scheduled for October 8, 2026, one day after the date of this comparison, post-release performance claims cannot yet be treated as verified. If technical improvements are the deciding factor, wait for the final regional listing or credible testing rather than assuming the PS5 label guarantees a particular upgrade.
Does the PS5 collection include Re Mind?
Yes. Square Enix describes the PS5 package as including KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind. The PS4 All-In-One listing names KINGDOM HEARTS III, and the PlayStation Store presents Re Mind separately as an add-on. Do not assume the PS4 bundle includes the DLC just because the PS5 collection does. Square Enix collection description · PlayStation Store listing

Can I transfer my PS4 save to the PS5 collection?
Square Enix’s announcement says save-data transfers between the platforms are unsupported, except for the Nintendo Switch transfer path it specifically describes. It does not support a promise of PS4-to-PS5 save transfer for Kingdom Hearts. If keeping your progress matters, check the final instructions for your region and edition before switching packages. Square Enix’s general PS4-to-PS5 upgrade guidance describes other upgrade mechanics: some digital PS4 purchases may already include a PS5 digital version, while physical owners may have a console upgrade option. A disc-linked PS5 download or play path requires the PS4 disc each time, and PS4 disc owners cannot use that path on a PS5 Digital Edition. These are general support rules, not the announced Kingdom Hearts Collection discount policy. Square Enix upgrade guidance

Which version should you play?
- You already own the PS4 All-In-One Package: Playing that version on PS5 may be sufficient; account for PlayStation’s warning that some PS4 features may be absent.
- You want Re Mind in the bundle: The PS5 Collection explicitly includes it. The PS4 All-In-One listing does not.
- You are buying a disc: Confirm your PS5 has a disc drive and that the regional edition contains the package you want. A PS4 disc will not work on PS5 Digital Edition.
- You expect a technical upgrade: The official sources cited here do not establish one. Wait for the PS5 release and specific evidence if frame rate, resolution, or load times matter to your choice.
- You need your existing save: Do not count on a PS4-to-PS5 transfer; Square Enix does not support that transfer in its announcement.
- You are deciding when to buy: The PS5 Collection is scheduled for October 8, 2026. Check the final local store listing for release timing, price, edition, and availability.
