Quick Start is usually the easiest way to set up an iPhone 18 Pro when your old iPhone is available: connect the old phone to Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth, place it near the new phone, and follow the on-screen prompts. Choose a direct transfer if you can leave both phones occupied until it finishes, or download from iCloud if you want to start using the new phone while apps and data download in the background. If the old phone is unavailable, restore an iCloud or computer backup instead.
Apple announced iPhone 18 Pro on September 9, 2026, and said availability began September 18. The steps below follow Apple’s general iPhone setup instructions; Apple does not describe a separate transfer process specifically for iPhone 18 Pro.
Choose the transfer method that fits your situation
| Method | Use it when | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Start: direct transfer | Your old iPhone is available and you can leave both phones together during migration. | Data transfers from the old phone to the new one. Keep both phones near each other and connected to power; you cannot use them normally until the transfer finishes. Completion time depends on network conditions and how much data is being moved. |
| Quick Start: download from iCloud | Your old iPhone is nearby, and you want to start using the new phone sooner. | The new phone can be used while apps and data continue downloading in the background. You need network access and iCloud access. |
| Restore from iCloud backup | Your old iPhone is unavailable, but you have a suitable iCloud backup. | Sign in to the Apple Account associated with the backup, select the right backup, and stay connected while the restore proceeds. Some content continues downloading afterward. |
| Restore from computer backup | A suitable local backup is available on a Mac or Windows computer. | Restore it using Finder, Apple Devices, or iTunes, depending on the computer. You need the password to restore an encrypted backup. |
Apple does not give one universal estimate for how long these transfers take. Decide based on whether you have the old phone, whether a usable backup exists, and whether you can leave the devices connected while the process runs.
Prepare both iPhones before setup
- Have your Apple Account password ready. You may need it to sign in and access Apple services or an iCloud backup.
- Connect the old iPhone to Wi-Fi and turn on Bluetooth. Unlock it and leave it at the Home Screen for Quick Start.
- Plan for uninterrupted power and time. Apple recommends keeping the phones plugged in during migration. For direct transfer, leave them close together until it completes.
- Have a network available. Setup requires an internet connection; you can connect the new iPhone to Wi-Fi or cellular when prompted. Be ready to follow carrier instructions if cellular activation is requested.
- Consider making a fresh iCloud backup first. On the old iPhone, open Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now and wait for it to finish.
- Keep payment details handy if you plan to add Apple Pay. A new iPhone purchaser may qualify for temporary iCloud storage for a transfer, subject to Apple’s terms.
Set up iPhone 18 Pro with Quick Start
- On the old iPhone, connect to Wi-Fi, turn on Bluetooth, unlock the phone, and go to the Home Screen.
- Turn on iPhone 18 Pro and place it near the old iPhone. Follow the Quick Start instructions shown on the old phone and new phone.
- Connect the new phone to Wi-Fi or cellular when prompted. Activate cellular service if asked, then complete the Face ID setup steps.
- When asked how to move your data, choose Transfer from iPhone for a direct device-to-device transfer, or choose the iCloud download option if you want to use the new phone while apps and data download in the background.
- If you choose direct transfer, keep both iPhones near each other and plugged into power until setup says the transfer is complete. The time varies with the amount of data and network conditions.
If the Quick Start prompt disappears, Apple advises restarting both devices and trying again. Quick Start transfer from the current device is unavailable if the new phone is enrolled in Apple School Manager or Apple Business; follow your organisation’s setup process for a managed device.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Restore an iCloud backup when the old iPhone is unavailable
- Turn on the new iPhone and follow setup until you reach the Apps & Data screen.
- Choose Restore from iCloud Backup, connect to Wi-Fi, and sign in to the Apple Account used for the backup.
- Review the available backups and select the intended one by checking its date and size.
- Keep the phone connected while the restore runs. Photos, music, apps, and other content may continue downloading after the initial setup.
Apple also documents a Quick Start route that begins with a nearby old device and then downloads from iCloud on the new one; its instructions require iOS 17.2 or later on the old iPhone for that route.
If you have already completed setup on the new iPhone, Apple’s documented iCloud restore route requires erasing it and starting setup again. Erasing removes data stored on that phone, so save anything new on it before proceeding.

- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Restore a backup from a Mac or Windows computer
- Connect the new iPhone to the computer holding the backup using USB.
- On a Mac with macOS 10.15 or later, open Finder. On a Windows computer or an older Mac, use Apple Devices or iTunes as applicable.
- Select the iPhone in the app, choose the option to restore a backup, and select the backup you want to use.
- If the backup is encrypted, enter its password when prompted.
Apple also points to wired device-to-device migration as a Quick Start option. The required cable arrangement depends on the exact phone pair, so check Apple’s instructions for your devices rather than assuming one cable configuration.
