Pocket Gamer’s global-facing Fortress Saga tier list places 21 heroes in S+, 15 in S, 12 in A, 11 in B, and 30 in C. It was updated September 16, 2026, for game version 2.1.02, with Anubis identified as the latest addition. Treat this as one publisher’s editorial ranking—not an objective or independently tested measure of every hero’s strength.
Fortress Saga tier list at a glance
The ranking below follows Pocket Gamer’s published tiers. Heroes are listed alphabetically within each tier because the source does not rank heroes against one another inside a tier. S+ is therefore a broad group, not a single top pick.

What the higher-tier placements mean in practice
A tier label is a starting point; a hero’s role and the team around them also matter. Pocket Gamer’s descriptions point to several distinct contributions rather than one universal definition of “strong.”

#1 Best Overall
- A build-it-yourself anime figure; requires assembly. Its highly articulated design and interchangeable parts allow for a variety of display options.
- Design inspiration: Includes the 30MF ROSAN LANCER, Rosan Fortress and Advanced Armour Accessory Pack, faithfully recreating the medieval style and details of the original artwork.
- Material: Crafted from high-quality PVC.
- Size: Approximately 15 cm / 5.9 inches in height when fully assembled, ideal for display on a desk, bookshelf, display cabinet or in a collection space.
- Gift: The perfect present for collectors, suitable for Christmas gifts, birthday presents and more.
S+ examples
- Violet summons Shadow Soldiers. Her passive strengthens summons and lets them benefit from additional stats provided by other heroes.
- Malleus leaps toward the largest enemy cluster, deals damage, groups enemies, and buffs Machina allies.
- Styria supports the team by healing and shielding allies, while her passive raises allied HP.
S-tier examples
- Winter deals area damage and knocks enemies back; after four skill hits, she freezes enemies.
- Zelos deals damage and inflicts Fear, can stun bosses, and absorbs some HP based on damage dealt.
- Jibril is described as a burst damage dealer useful against both single targets and groups.
A-tier examples
- Soba boosts attack and also deals damage and knocks enemies down.
- Scarecrow is a Unique hero the guide says can be upgraded quickly. Scarecrow heals and turns excess healing into a shield.
- Ravia deals area damage, applies bleed, and has execute potential.
B-tier examples
- Bruce deals area damage and passively increases allied attack.
- Loxia provides crowd control.
- Bernhard deals area damage, reduces defense, taunts, and can gain crowd-control immunity. Pocket Gamer notes that his placement could be higher with the right team and opponents.
These examples show why a tier alone cannot tell you whether a hero fits your lineup: damage, control, healing, shielding, and team buffs can matter differently depending on what your team lacks.
How to choose a hero for your team
Use the list as a shortlist, then weigh the hero against the content you are trying to clear and the team you can actually build. The available rankings and role descriptions support four useful comparison axes:
- Game mode: PvE waves, PvE bosses, and PvP are distinct contexts. A hero’s usefulness in one does not establish the same ranking in another.
- Role: Consider whether you need damage, crowd control, healing, shields, or buffs rather than selecting only by tier.
- Team synergy: Some contributions are conditional. For example, Malleus buffs Machina allies, while Violet’s summons can benefit from other heroes’ additional stats.
- Investment and access: A theoretically high-ranked hero is not automatically the most useful immediate upgrade if you do not have the resources or team support to develop them.
Pocket Gamer advises against rerolling, arguing that early access is limited and rerolling could delete progress without guaranteeing a top hero. That is the guide’s recommendation, not a verified account of every player’s reroll experience.

Rankings vary because publishers may cover different regions, dates, and modes. Kamigame’s page, updated October 6, 2026, separates rankings for PvE waves, PvE bosses, and PvP. Its wave ranking places Violet and Ruingaladh among its SS heroes, while Pocket Gamer assigns several of the same heroes different tiers in its global-facing list.
MobileMatters’ August 2026 list places Winter, Ruingaladh, Ravia, and Elizabeth in S. Pocket Gamer places them in S, S+, A, and B respectively. These are not directly interchangeable results: the lists have different publication dates and may use different criteria. Avoid averaging them into a supposed consensus without a shared method.
For context, Google Play’s listing for Fortress Saga: Idle AFK RPG describes an idle RPG built around a moving fortress, hero collection and summons, upgrades, dungeons, and PvP. Its named collaborations include Sonic the Hedgehog, One Punch Man, Working Cat, Delicious in Dungeon, and Three Kingdoms Challenge. The listing was updated September 29, 2026; its game description does not establish a hero ranking.
