How current is this Fairy Tail Wizard Chronicle tier list?
Pocket Gamer’s guide, written by Mihail Katsoris, was updated September 16, 2026 and explicitly identifies game version 1.26.0. It is an editorial meta snapshot, not an official ranking from developer GOODROID. The guide is useful for comparing units, but it should not be presented as independently verified against an October balance update. Read Pocket Gamer’s tier list.
Apple’s US App Store listing includes versions 1.27.0 and 1.27.1 after 1.26.0 and labels them bug fixes. That establishes that newer builds are listed; it does not establish whether they changed character balance, added characters, or made the September rankings outdated. Which S+ characters are worth upgrading?
S+ is not a single-purpose shortlist. Pocket Gamer’s explanations value characters for distinct jobs, so compare what your team needs rather than treating the tier as a guarantee that every S+ unit will perform equally in every mode.
Damage and control
Jellal is described as a primary damage dealer with crowd control. First Dream Laxus is highlighted for single-target damage as well as area damage. These are different strengths: choose around whether you need to pressure one target, affect several enemies, or disrupt opponents.

Tanking
Erza Heaven-W is identified as the guide’s best tank. If your lineup needs a unit to fill the tanking role, that role-specific assessment is more useful than comparing tier labels alone.
Debuffs and sustain
Irene and Wendy Marvell are described as bringing debuffs and sustain, including healing and buffs. Those tools can support a team in ways that raw damage rankings do not capture.

Satan Mirajane, Mavis, Bunny Lucy, and Cyber Rogue are described as PvP meta units, with performance that falls off in PvE. Their S+ placement should not be read as an all-mode recommendation; evaluate them for the mode in which you intend to use them.

Pocket Gamer’s S-tier notes point to damage, utility, control, and disruption as reasons these units can round out a composition. Natsu (Dragon Force) and Laxus Dreyar are described as powerful damage dealers. Lucy Leo Form and Mirajane offer sustained damage and utility, while Gray and Holy Night Juvia are control or debuff choices. The guide also describes S-tier options as useful for control and utility, single-target burst, or damage and disruption.

The guide is partly intended to help players—especially free-to-play players—avoid spending scarce upgrade resources on weak units; shards are one example it names. Before investing, check the role you need, the mode you play, and whether a higher-ranked unit actually improves your current lineup. A PvP-focused pick may not repay its cost in a PvE team.
The game’s store listings describe it as an idle RPG with auto-battles that gather materials and EXP while you are away. GOODROID’s Apple listing advertises more than 80 playable characters; that is the developer’s listing claim, not an independently audited roster count. Apple App Store and Google Play provide the store descriptions. The broad roster makes role fit and upgrade priorities more useful than simply chasing the most names at the top of a tier list.
