Which edition should you buy?
CD PROJEKT RED released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on September 29, 2026. On supported platforms it replaces the Complete Edition and includes the original expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Store names and upgrade steps can differ, so confirm that the listing is for your platform before purchasing. CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement lists GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for owner upgrades, and says Remastered is also purchasable on Battle.net and Microsoft Store.

If you already own The Witcher 3
Do not buy the game again just because an older library entry is labeled “Base Game.” CD PROJEKT RED says owners of the base game receive Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no extra cost. Its support FAQ instructs players: “Simply update the game to the latest version to install Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.” The FAQ also distinguishes platform-specific steps: on PS4 and Xbox One, download the expansions free through the platform route. On Switch 2, the upgrade entitlement is tied to owning the original Switch game.
- Update The Witcher 3 on the platform where you own it.
- Open your library or the platform store and check the game’s add-ons or entitlement for each expansion.
- If an expansion is not available automatically, follow the instructions for your platform in CD PROJEKT RED’s support FAQ before purchasing it separately.
The FAQ says the standalone expansions are delisted and the base game is replaced by Complete Edition in affected digital storefronts. Existing owners retain their library entitlements, saves, cross-progression, achievements, and trophies. You can start either expansion separately from the main menu.

What’s included in the Nintendo Switch Complete Edition?
CD PROJEKT RED’s Switch support page says the physical and digital Complete Editions include the base game, 16 free DLC items, and both major expansions. The physical version is a sensible option if you specifically want a cartridge or boxed copy; verify the region and Switch compatibility on the retailer’s exact listing. The official Switch FAQ describes the included content.
Are the expansions included with Songs of the Past?
CD PROJEKT RED announced Songs of the Past as a third expansion planned for 2027. The announcement does not establish its final price or say that it is bundled with Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Treat it as a separate forthcoming item unless the publisher later confirms bundle details. Read the announcement for the publisher’s current information.

Why older buying guides may say “Complete Edition”
That advice described an earlier packaging choice: CD PROJEKT RED’s December 14, 2022 release notice said the Complete Edition bundled Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine, and 16 pieces of extra content. Store policy has since changed. The 2026 support FAQ describes the base-game replacement and delisting of standalone expansions in affected storefronts, while the September 2026 announcement says Remastered replaces Complete Edition on supported platforms. For a new digital purchase, use the current listing for your platform rather than relying on an old guide or an edition name in an older library entry.
