NVIDIA reported much larger data-center revenue in its latest located quarter: $89.0 billion for fiscal Q2 2027, compared with AMD’s $6.718 billion for fiscal Q2 2026. AMD’s Data Center revenue grew 107% year over year, but the reported quarters ended a month apart, and the available figures do not establish which company grew faster over matching periods. The comparison below separates segment results from company-wide financials and identifies what the disclosures do—and do not—show.

How do Nvidia and AMD compare in data-center revenue?

The latest located results show a large difference in reported scale, but they are not for the same fiscal quarter or calendar period. NVIDIA’s fiscal Q2 2027 ended July 26, 2026; AMD’s fiscal Q2 2026 ended June 27, 2026. These are management-reported figures from the companies’ earnings materials and filings.

Measure NVIDIA AMD
Latest located quarter Fiscal Q2 2027, ended July 26, 2026 Fiscal Q2 2026, ended June 27, 2026
Company revenue $96.221 billion $11.536 billion
Data-center revenue $89.0 billion $6.718 billion
Data-center revenue growth Not stated in the cited Q2 FY27 earnings release and filing 107% year over year
Company-wide GAAP gross margin 75.0% 54%
Company-wide GAAP operating income $63.734 billion $1.990 billion
Data-center segment operating income Not stated in the cited Q2 FY27 earnings release; company-wide operating income is not a substitute $2.103 billion

NVIDIA’s figures are from its fiscal Q2 2027 results released August 26, 2026; AMD’s company-wide results are from its August 4, 2026 release, with segment figures in its fiscal Q2 2026 Form 10-Q. The revenue gap is a comparison of reported results for those periods—not a precise market-share calculation. The companies organize and report their businesses differently, and their disclosed data-center categories do not have identical boundaries.

Which company is growing faster in data centers?

AMD reported 107% year-over-year Data Center revenue growth in fiscal Q2 2026. The figures cited here do not provide a matching NVIDIA data-center growth rate for fiscal Q2 2027, so they cannot establish which company was growing faster over comparable periods. The quarter-end dates also differ by about a month.

For longer-term context, AMD reported $16.6 billion in Data Center revenue and $3.6 billion in Data Center operating income for fiscal 2025. Its segment revenue grew 32% from fiscal 2024, driven primarily by EPYC processors and Instinct GPU accelerators. That annual result gives a baseline for AMD, but it is not directly comparable to NVIDIA’s later quarterly result.

How profitable is AMD’s data-center business?

AMD reported $2.103 billion in Data Center operating income for fiscal Q2 2026, up from a $155 million operating loss in the year-ago quarter. The segment result is the clearest disclosed measure here of AMD’s data-center operating profitability.

Do not confuse that figure with AMD’s company-wide $1.990 billion operating income or its 54% gross margin. Those measures cover the whole company, whereas Data Center operating income is a segment measure. NVIDIA’s cited release reports company-wide profitability but does not provide a corresponding Data Center operating-income figure, so the segment-profit comparison cannot be completed from these disclosures.

AMD’s year-over-year company-wide margin comparison also has a notable base effect: gross margin was 54% in Q2 FY26 versus 40% in Q2 FY25. AMD attributed part of the improvement in Data Center operating income to higher revenue and the absence of prior-year inventory charges related to U.S. government export controls on MI308 products. Product mix also affects gross margin, so the change should not be read as a clean measure of ongoing segment economics alone.

What is driving each company’s data-center growth?

NVIDIA: accelerated computing, AI, and Blackwell

NVIDIA said demand for data-center products supporting accelerated computing and AI solutions drove revenue growth in its fiscal Q2 2027 filing. It also said Blackwell accounted for the majority of system shipments. The filing reported that production shipments of its Vera Rubin data-center architecture began in fiscal Q3 2027.

NVIDIA reports two operating segments—Compute & Networking and Graphics—and separately communicates Data Center revenue. Do not treat all Compute & Networking revenue as Data Center revenue; the segment is broader than that business line.

AMD: EPYC processors and Instinct accelerators

AMD identifies EPYC server processors and Instinct MI350 Series GPUs as the main demand drivers in fiscal Q2 2026. Its Data Center reportable segment covers a broader mix of products, including AI accelerators, server microprocessors, GPUs, APUs, DPUs, AI network interface cards, FPGAs, and adaptive SoC products for data centers.

Are Nvidia and AMD’s data-center financials directly comparable?

They are useful for comparing reported scale, but they are not fully apples-to-apples. The fiscal years and quarter-end dates differ, the businesses have different product mixes, and the companies do not present their reporting boundaries identically. AMD reports Data Center as a reportable segment with segment operating income; NVIDIA’s cited Q2 release gives Data Center revenue but not Data Center operating income.

What execution risks and future demand commitments matter?

NVIDIA: capacity and infrastructure constraints

NVIDIA disclosed $279 billion in supply and capacity commitments as of July 26, 2026, up from $119 billion the previous quarter. The filing describes risks involving manufacturing capacity, supply, product quality, customer deployment readiness, and access to land, power, data-center shells, and capital. The commitments indicate substantial planned capacity needs; they do not mean all of that capacity will convert into realized sales.

NVIDIA’s fiscal Q3 2027 outlook was total revenue of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. This was a forecast, not a reported result, and NVIDIA said the outlook assumed no Data Center compute revenue from China.

AMD: intended deployments are not guaranteed sales

AMD said OpenAI and Meta each intend to deploy up to 6 gigawatts of AMD data-center GPUs under multi-year agreements, with initial deployments powered by MI450 Series products. AMD also disclosed warrants tied to purchase milestones and other conditions. These are stated intentions and agreement terms, not proof that the full capacity will be deployed or booked as revenue.

AMD CFO Jean Hu said the company expected Data Center sales to accelerate in the second half of 2026, contributing to stronger overall revenue growth and continued earnings expansion. That statement is management outlook, not an established outcome.

What the figures establish—and what they do not

The reported quarters show NVIDIA at substantially greater data-center revenue scale, while AMD reported strong year-over-year growth and a positive Data Center segment operating result. They do not, on their own, establish exact market shares, comparable product performance, the eventual conversion of capacity commitments into sales, or which company is the better investment. Those questions require evidence beyond these operating disclosures.
