Amazon price history helps you judge today’s offer against what the same item has cost before—not just a sale badge or crossed-out price. Check the relevant time ranges, make sure the listing matches the product and offer you want, and decide whether today’s final price meets your own target.
Where to find Amazon price history
Open the exact Amazon product listing and look for the Price history link near the price. Amazon also says shoppers can access price-history information through Alexa for Shopping in the Amazon Shopping app or desktop interface. Availability can vary by listing and region; Amazon describes the feature for eligible product pages. Amazon’s price-history guide gives the access details.
Before interpreting the chart, confirm that the listing is for the same model, size, color, bundle, and condition you are considering. A chart for a different variation may not be useful for judging the offer in front of you.
How to read the 30-, 90-, and 365-day views
Use each available range to answer a different question. A price that looks low over 30 days may be ordinary across a year, while the yearly view cannot tell you whether the item has become unusually cheap just this week. Amazon describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day views where available.

- 30 days: Was the item on sale recently, and is today’s price near a recent low?
- 90 days: How does today compare with a broader recent range?
- 365 days: Is today unusually low compared with the longer history shown?
Amazon’s own suggested question is: “Is this the lowest price recently?” Treat the chart as historical context, not a forecast. A past low does not guarantee that price will return or that the item will not become cheaper later. What “Was” Price, Typical Price, and List Price mean
Amazon says its Typical Price, also described as “Was” Price, is the median price customers paid on Amazon during the previous 90 days, excluding limited-time deal prices. List Price is a separate reference: Amazon describes it as a validated manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). These figures measure different things and should not be treated as interchangeable proof that an offer is a bargain.

A percentage-off badge or crossed-out reference price can be useful context, but it does not answer whether the current price is attractive compared with the item’s history or worth paying for your needs. Amazon explains its definitions in its approach to offering genuine deals.
Decide whether today’s price is worthwhile for you
- Set your own target. Decide what you would be comfortable paying, based on your budget and how useful the item is to you.
- Compare today with the chart. Note whether the current price is near a recent low, within the usual range, or merely below a higher reference price.
- Weigh urgency against the opportunity to wait. If the offer is above your target and you do not need the item soon, waiting is reasonable. If it meets your target and the product is right, the history can give you context for buying now.
There is no universal “good deal” threshold: the same price can be worthwhile for one buyer and too high for another. Price history informs your decision; it does not make it for you.

Verify the exact offer before checkout
Check the selected seller, item condition, variation, coupon eligibility, shipping, and final checkout total. Do not assume the chart includes every coupon, seller-specific promotion, shipping charge, or account-specific discount; Amazon’s public descriptions do not comprehensively explain how each of those offer details is reflected. Compare the actual offer you can buy with the history you reviewed.

Amazon describes target-price alerts, which can help you avoid repeatedly checking a listing. A third-party option, CamelCamelCamel, says it offers price-history charts, price watches, email alerts, and a browser extension. Amazon’s built-in feature is the direct starting point; a tracker is optional. Neither an alert nor a historical chart promises that a future price will reach your target.
