To stop Gemini from accessing a connected work app, open Gemini’s Settings & help → Connected Apps, find the app, switch it off, and follow the on-screen steps. On work or school accounts, a Google Workspace administrator may control whether apps can be enabled or disabled. Disconnecting an app does not erase existing Gemini chats or information the app has already received.
How to disconnect an app from Gemini
- Sign in to the Gemini app using the account whose access you want to change.
- On the web, open Gemini and select Settings & help → Connected Apps. If Connected Apps appears under Personal Intelligence, open that section first.
- Find the app you want to review, switch it off, and follow any on-screen instructions. You can use this settings area to reconnect it later.
Google’s Connected Apps help describes this control. The apps shown can vary by account type, Workspace edition, device, country or location, language, and Gemini app, so check the list in your own account rather than expecting every app or menu to appear for everyone.
What work and school account users should know
For work or school accounts, connected apps require a qualifying Google Workspace edition, Keep Activity enabled, and administrator permission. Google says apps can only be enabled or disabled by the account’s Workspace administrator. If an app is unavailable or you need its access changed, contact your administrator. Gemini’s Workspace access generally matches what you can access yourself: for example, it can use Drive files shared with you and Calendar events you are allowed to view. There are exceptions: Gemini cannot access a Drive file when its owner disallows downloading, copying, and printing, and it does not access messages in a delegated Gmail inbox. What happens if an administrator disables access during a chat?
You can still view and continue a chat that has already used an app. Gemini retains access only to information needed to respond to the original prompt; while app access is disabled, it cannot retrieve additional information from that app.
What disconnecting does—and does not—delete
Disconnecting stops future access through that app connection. It does not delete Gemini Apps Activity, past chats, or information an app has already received from Gemini. Google’s Gemini Apps privacy guidance recommends deleting relevant Gemini chats as well as disconnecting the app if you want to remove information Gemini may have remembered from it. Deleting chats alone leaves the connection available; disconnecting alone leaves information in past chats. Changes or deletions made in a connected app may take days to affect the Gemini experience.

Why turning off a connection may not block all Google information
Private, account-connected content and public information are different access paths. Google says Gemini may still use public information from services such as Search, Flights, Hotels, Maps, and YouTube even when a connected app is turned off. Disconnecting is therefore a control on the app connection, not a blanket block on public information from Google services. See Google’s Connected Apps help.
