To check whether your PC meets Modern Warfare 4’s requirements, compare its exact CPU, graphics card, RAM, Windows version, and available SSD space with Activision’s published tiers. Also verify TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, DirectX 12 compatibility, and broadband internet: matching the headline hardware alone is not enough.
Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements at a glance
Activision’s requirements, published October 1, 2026, describe desktop PCs and are stated as valid for launch. The company says specifications may change. Every tier requires broadband internet, DirectX 12 compatibility, and an Intel or AMD processor that supports AVX. Intel Arc graphics cards also require Resizable BAR. Mandatory updates may need additional storage beyond the amount listed.

The Intel CPU discrepancy in the recommended tier appears between two official sources: Activision Support lists Core i7-8700, while the Call of Duty Blog, published September 29, 2026, lists Core i7-8700K. If your system is close to that CPU threshold, check the current Activision Support page before treating it as confirmed.
The 115 GB figure means free space on an SSD at launch, not a drive with only 115 GB total capacity. Leave room for updates. Laptop graphics cards can differ from desktop models with similar names, and Activision does not establish that a similarly named laptop GPU is supported.

Check your Windows version, processor, and RAM
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Under Device specifications, note the processor and installed RAM.
- Under Windows specifications, note the edition and version. Compare these with the 64-bit Windows version required for your target tier, and install the latest update.

Identify the exact graphics card
Find the full GPU model name in Windows system information or your graphics-card maker’s utility, then compare that exact model with the table. A matching series name or a laptop GPU with a similar label is not sufficient to establish that it meets Activision’s desktop specification. If you have an Intel Arc card, check that Resizable BAR is supported and enabled as required.

Check SSD space on the intended install drive
- Open Settings > System > Storage.
- Inspect the drive where you plan to install the game. If you have more than one drive, check each candidate separately.
- Confirm the drive is an SSD and has at least 115 GB free at launch; keep extra free space available for mandatory updates.
If the intended drive already has enough free SSD space, this requirement does not by itself call for a new drive. Any storage upgrade must also be compatible with your PC.
Verify TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
TPM 2.0
Open Windows Security > Device security > Security processor details and look for a specification version of 2.0. Microsoft notes that a missing Security processor section can mean TPM is disabled or that the device lacks it. Before changing firmware settings, consult your PC manufacturer’s instructions. Secure Boot
Review the Device security page in Windows Security. Activision requires Secure Boot, but a PC that supports the feature does not necessarily have it enabled. Secure Boot uses UEFI firmware settings; Microsoft recommends consulting the computer manufacturer for device-specific changes. See Microsoft’s Secure Boot guidance.
Decide which requirements tier your PC meets
Compare every listed component and prerequisite against the tier that matches your goal. The minimum tier is Activision’s play threshold; the recommended tier is tied to a target of 90 FPS in multiplayer on High settings; the top tier is for high-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K. These targets do not guarantee the same performance at other resolutions, settings, or workloads. Activision’s 90 FPS figure is a published target, not a promise that every PC meeting the listed parts will deliver that result.

Activision Staff describes the game as offering “800+ customization options” across graphics, gameplay, input devices, interface, and more in its September 29, 2026 PC article. That vendor-reported feature count does not change the hardware tiers; it indicates that players can adjust settings, but the published requirement targets remain distinct.

Identify the specific component or prerequisite that misses your intended tier before considering an upgrade. RAM or SSD storage may be upgradeable, but CPU and GPU changes depend on the motherboard, power supply, cooling, case, and—in laptops—the system design. Activision’s requirements do not specify a universally compatible upgrade. Check your PC maker’s or component maker’s documentation before buying.
