Argos’s standard change-of-mind policy gives you 30 days from delivery or collection to request a return, then a further 30 days to send or take the laptop back. Start with Argos’s online returns process and your order details; the options shown depend on how you received the laptop and whether it is eligible. A faulty laptop follows a separate support route.
Start a return using your order details
- Open Argos’s returns page and follow the online instructions for your order.
- Choose the reason that applies: unwanted or changed your mind, or faulty or damaged. The route and options can differ.
- Check the return methods offered for your order, including any stated fee, deadline and instructions. Follow the order-specific directions rather than assuming every laptop can be returned by the same method.
If you no longer want the laptop
Argos says you have 30 days from the date of delivery or collection to request a return under its standard policy, and a further 30 days to return the item. The request period starts from delivery or collection, not the day you first contact support. See the Argos terms and conditions for the policy.
Return method depends on how you received the laptop:
- Collected from an Argos store: Argos says store-collected items can be returned to any Argos store.
- Home-delivered: Store return or collection may be offered depending on the item’s size and eligibility. Check the options attached to your order or contact Argos if the online flow does not resolve it.
- Click and collect: Use the order-specific return flow. For most online purchases, click and collect included, a statutory cancellation right may also apply; the method you can use still depends on Argos’s instructions.
Argos lists a £3.95 home-collection charge for an eligible unwanted small item. It says this charge does not apply to faulty items or eligible small items returned to a store. Whether that fee applies to your laptop depends on the return options shown for your order.

If the laptop is faulty or damaged
Do not treat a fault as an ordinary change-of-mind return. Argos directs customers with a faulty item to its Product Support guidance, which leads to the relevant options. The process can vary with the laptop’s age and the circumstances, so describe the problem and follow the route given for your product.
Argos identifies the Consumer Rights Act 2015 as the basis for remedies when goods are faulty. For qualifying goods that do not conform to the contract, the short-term right to reject generally lasts 30 days from the relevant start point; remedies after that period depend on the circumstances. The retailer’s standard return policy does not replace those statutory rights.

Online order cancellation: the separate 14-day right
For most online purchases, including click and collect, Argos describes a statutory cancellation period of 14 days beginning the day after you receive the goods. This is distinct from Argos’s 30-day standard returns policy. If you intend to rely on the cancellation right, notify Argos within the applicable period and follow its return instructions. The right derives from the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; exceptions and the exact application can depend on the order and circumstances. See Argos’s terms and conditions.

What to prepare before sending or taking it back
- Have your order details available so Argos can show the options for that purchase.

- Read the instructions produced for the return, including where to take or send the laptop and any collection arrangement.
- Do not assume a particular packaging or proof-of-purchase rule applies to every route; follow the instructions given for your order.
