Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player, turn-based tactics game set near the end of the Clone Wars. You play Hawks, a former Republic officer leading an unconventional team through tactical operations and investigations. Its appeal combines deliberate, turn-by-turn combat with squad customization, character bonds that can unlock combat synergies, and a story between missions. Pick Jagged Alliance 3 if assembling and managing a mercenary team sounds as appealing as the battles. Its action-point combat is paired with open-world territory management and the ability to operate multiple squads. The mercenaries have their own personalities and relationships; according to the official game site, a recruit may refuse to work with teammates they dislike.
This makes it a stronger fit for players who want a recruitable roster and a broader operational map than a focused, named-team campaign. The official site also lists online co-op, so it is an option to consider if you want to play with a friend rather than continue with a single-player-only game.

Best for tactical combat with a reactive RPG story: Wasteland 3
Wasteland 3 blends squad-based role-playing with turn-based tactical combat. Squad customization and combat remain central, but the story and difficult decisions take a larger share of the experience than in a game focused mainly on tactical operations. If you want battles to feed into a reactive narrative, it is the best fit in this group. Read the official inXile game page for its description; the Xbox listing identifies online co-op availability.

EA announced the game’s launch on August 28, 2026. Steam lists August 27, 2026, as its storefront release date; these are different records, not necessarily conflicting dates.
