Which controllers does Kingdom Hearts support on PC?
Square Enix’s controller support page names Xbox controllers, PlayStation DualShock controllers, PlayStation DualSense controllers, and Steam Input controllers. It does not specify a particular game, storefront, controller model, or version in the article text, so its list should not be treated as a compatibility guarantee for every PC release.
Steam’s platform-level guidance is broader than the game-specific list. It names official Microsoft Xbox controllers, Sony DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers among the types supported in Big Picture mode; it also says third-party controllers often work but are not officially supported, and that support varies by game. What “partial support” means in practice
Square Enix warns that keyboard and mouse may be required to navigate a portion of the game. A controller may work for gameplay but not cover every menu or setup step. Keep a keyboard and mouse available, especially if you cannot reach a menu option with the gamepad.

Check your game and storefront first
Before changing settings, identify which PC release and storefront you are using. The Steam listing for KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- gives June 13, 2024 as its release date and lists Windows 10 64-bit version 1909 or later and DirectX 11 as requirements. Those details describe that Steam release; they do not explain or diagnose controller behavior. The listing does not establish that all PC Kingdom Hearts games use the same input handling.
The official controller article does not provide a per-game or per-storefront compatibility matrix. Consequently, a controller that works with one release or launcher may behave differently with another.

Troubleshoot a Kingdom Hearts controller that is not working on PC
Use these as practical diagnostic steps, not publisher-verified fixes. Change one thing at a time and check both menus and gameplay after each change.
- Connect the controller before launching the game. Check that your operating system or storefront recognizes it. This is a general diagnostic step, not a Square Enix instruction.
- Check the game’s controller configuration in Steam, if you play through Steam. Test native controller input and Steam Input deliberately, one at a time. Steam’s general controller guidance does not prescribe a Kingdom Hearts-specific setting.
- Test menus and gameplay separately. If the gamepad works in one but not the other, note where the problem occurs. Square Enix’s partial-support warning means incomplete menu navigation may be expected.
- Keep keyboard and mouse within reach. Use them for menu navigation or sections that do not respond fully to the controller.
- Contact Square Enix support if the issue persists. Epic directs players with controller problems in third-party games to the game developer or support team; see Epic’s guidance for third-party games.
Kingdom Hearts PC controller buttons are swapped or the right stick does not work

If buttons are swapped, check the game’s own controller options and adjust them if the menus accept the inputs you need. Retest both menus and gameplay afterward. If the right stick is unresponsive, use the same step-by-step approach: check recognition, test the game’s available input settings, and compare native input with Steam Input when relevant. The available official guidance does not establish a universal fix for either problem.
Avoid assuming that disabling Steam Input, launching an Epic game through Steam, unplugging a mouse, installing a particular driver, or buying a specific controller will solve the issue. The cited official materials do not verify those as general fixes.

Does Kingdom Hearts on PC support DualSense and Xbox controllers?
Square Enix lists both DualSense and Xbox controllers as partially supported controller families. That supports a qualified yes, not a promise that every model, game release, storefront, or menu will work without keyboard and mouse. Steam’s platform-level controller support is separate from the game-specific compatibility information.
