There is no fixed file size for 4K 120fps or 240fps video: storage use depends mainly on the bitrate selected by the camera. As a quick estimate, divide the bitrate in megabits per second (Mbps) by eight and multiply by the recording time in seconds. At 360 Mbps, one minute is about 2.7 GB; at 720 Mbps, it is about 5.4 GB, before bitrate variation and other overhead.
Estimate video storage from the bitrate
Use this formula for an estimate in decimal units:
File size in MB = bitrate in Mbps × recording time in seconds ÷ 8
For one minute, multiply the bitrate by 60 and divide by 8. Divide the resulting megabytes by 1,000 to get decimal gigabytes. Camera makers may report storage differently, and actual files can vary with the scene and settings.
| Bitrate | Estimated size per minute | Estimated size for 10 minutes |
|---|---|---|
| 120 Mbps | 900 MB (about 0.9 GB) | 9,000 MB (about 9 GB) |
| 360 Mbps | 2,700 MB (about 2.7 GB) | 27,000 MB (about 27 GB) |
| 720 Mbps | 5,400 MB (about 5.4 GB) | 54,000 MB (about 54 GB) |
These are calculations from the listed bitrates, not guarantees of the size of every camera file. FUJIFILM cautions that bitrate can change with the subject, so leave spare space rather than planning to use a card to its nominal limit. FUJIFILM X-H2S specifications

Does 240fps mean 4K?
Not necessarily. Resolution and frame rate are separate specifications, and some cameras offer 240fps only at Full HD (1080p). For example, DJI lists the Osmo Action 6 as recording 4K up to 100/120fps and 1080p up to 240fps. FUJIFILM lists the X-H2S high-speed 4K mode at 120p, with its 240fps high-speed mode under FHD. Check the exact mode in your camera’s specifications before estimating storage. DJI Osmo Action 6 specifications FUJIFILM X-H2S specifications
If your camera does record 4K at 240fps, use the bitrate published for that specific mode. Do not assume it will use exactly twice the storage of 4K 120fps: compression, codec, bit depth, image detail, and the camera’s implementation all affect bitrate.

Why storage needs differ between cameras
Resolution and frame rate alone do not determine file size. A camera’s codec and quality setting influence how much data it writes, and complex or detailed scenes may produce different bitrates from simpler ones.
Manufacturer examples illustrate the variation. FUJIFILM lists 720 Mbps and 360 Mbps bitrate options for listed H.265 modes, including its 4K/DCI4K high-speed 120p mode. Those bitrates work out to about 5.4 GB and 2.7 GB per minute, respectively. FUJIFILM X-H2S specifications

DJI lists a maximum video bitrate of 120 Mbps for the Osmo Action 6. If sustained, that corresponds to an estimate of about 0.9 GB per minute; it is a specification-based ceiling estimate, not a promise that every recording continuously uses that rate. DJI Osmo Action 6 specifications
Insta360’s GO Series FAQ gives further examples: about 675 MB per minute for 4K/30fps at 90 Mbps and about 450 MB per minute for 4K/60fps at standard bitrate. The FAQ says actual storage varies by model, settings, bitrate, and subject. Insta360 GO Series Memory Card & Storage Usage FAQ

Estimate recording time on a memory card
Once you know the bitrate for the exact mode, estimate the space needed for your planned recording time:
- Find the camera mode you intend to record, including resolution, frame rate, codec, and quality or bitrate setting.
- Use the bitrate listed for that mode, if the manufacturer provides one.
- Multiply Mbps by the planned number of seconds and divide by eight for an estimated file size in MB. Divide by 1,000 for decimal GB.
- Allow extra capacity for bitrate variation and space the camera reserves or uses for its system.
- Check that the camera accepts your storage type and supports the card’s capacity and speed class.
For example, at 360 Mbps, a 10-minute recording is estimated at 27 GB. A nominal 128 GB card would therefore hold less than 47 minutes at that bitrate even before allowing for reserved capacity or variation. This is a mathematical estimate, not a guaranteed recording time.

Check card compatibility before buying
Storage options differ by camera. DJI lists microSD expansion for the Osmo Action 6. Insta360 says GO Ultra supports microSD/TF cards up to 2TB with UHS-I V30 or higher, while GO 3 and GO 3S use built-in storage only. Confirm the requirements for your exact model; a removable card cannot be added to a camera that has no card slot. DJI Osmo Action 6 specifications Insta360 GO Series Memory Card & Storage Usage FAQ
