On PS5, Dune: Awakening offers basic controller customization: an alternate preset or some remapping support, plus adjustable stick sensitivity and inversion. It does not promise a full, unrestricted button-by-button map. If D-pad left or right stops working on the Map, Funcom’s listed workaround is to press Cross or close and reopen the Map.
What controller controls can you customize on PS5?
The PlayStation Store listing describes the game’s remapping as “Basic”: players can choose an alternate preset, or the game provides some remapping support. It also lists adjustable stick sensitivity and stick inversion. The listing does not establish that every button can be rebound, and the official sources do not specify an in-game settings path, so look for the available control options in the game’s menus without assuming a full custom button map. If you use a DualSense Edge, PlayStation also supports controller-level profiles with custom button assignments and stick sensitivity or deadzone adjustments. That is an optional layer configured for the controller; it is not a requirement for playing Dune: Awakening or a repair for a game-side input bug. See PlayStation controller support.
Fix D-pad left or right on the Map
Funcom’s Known Issues page, updated September 24, 2026, lists a game-specific problem in which D-pad left and right can stop working while viewing the Map. Its workaround is to press Cross (the PlayStation equivalent of the page’s “A/Cross” instruction), or close and reopen the Map. Funcom Known Issues — Dune: Awakening.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- While the Map is open, press Cross once.
- If the D-pad still does not respond, close the Map and open it again.
- If the problem continues beyond the Map or appears in other games, follow the controller checks below rather than treating this specific workaround as a hardware fix.
Known-issue status can change as the game is patched, so the workaround may no longer be needed after an update.
When button names appear instead of icons
Funcom notes that unsupported controllers may display text strings instead of button icons. A missing or unusual glyph is a display or compatibility clue; on its own, it does not show that a physical button has failed.

Separate online delay from button problems
If controls respond late only during online play, the delay may be connectivity-related rather than a remapping or controller fault. Funcom’s PS5 connectivity guidance recommends these checks:
- Select a server close to your location.
- Run Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection on PS5.
- Try a wired Ethernet connection and restart your router or modem.
- Check your NAT type and PlayStation Network status.
- Fully close and restart the game instead of resuming it from a suspended state.
- Install available console updates.
These steps address connection conditions; they do not change button assignments. See Funcom Connectivity Issues — Dune: Awakening.
