ASOS says it is not currently asking customers to change their password or take another action. The alert alone does not prove that your individual account login was compromised; check your account and payment activity, and follow updates from ASOS and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
What the ASOS notification means
ASOS says some customers received an unauthorized push notification on 6 October 2026. The company says it is investigating unauthorized activity involving third-party platforms it uses to communicate with customers, and that it restricted access to those platforms. ASOS says names and contact details may have been accessed, but it does not believe account passwords or payment-card information were affected. Its site and app remain available, according to its notice. These are ASOS’s current statements, not an independent forensic conclusion.
The NCSC advises ASOS customers to assume they may be affected even if they did not receive the notification. That guidance concerns the incident’s potential reach; it does not mean that every customer’s login credentials were stolen. Treat suspicious account activity as a separate warning sign and respond to it directly.
What to do, based on what happened

Ignore the link and verify messages independently
Do not click or engage with the external third-party link in the unauthorized notification. For any later message claiming to be from ASOS, open the official app or type the website address yourself. ASOS says it will contact customers through an ASOS-branded email address or a verified social-media account; if a message seems suspicious, check with ASOS’s guidance on identifying its communications or contact Customer Care.

Be especially cautious of unexpected requests to log in, verify your identity, provide payment information, or claim a refund. A message may refer to the public incident to appear convincing. The NCSC advises watching for suspicious messages after a breach becomes public, and ASOS advises against clicking links or opening attachments in messages whose authenticity is doubtful.
Should you change your ASOS password?
ASOS’s current instruction is that customers do not need to change their ASOS password or take any other action because of this notification. The company says it will contact affected customers if that advice changes. A password reset is therefore not an incident-specific requirement at this time.

If you reused your password
Change the reused password on every other service where you used it, even if you have no sign of unauthorized access there. Use each service’s official app or website. ASOS and the NCSC recommend unique, separate passwords; a password manager is one optional way to create and store them.
If your ASOS password is exposed or your account looks compromised
Go to ASOS directly and change the password if you know it was exposed or see signs of suspicious access. ASOS account help says a signed-in customer can select “Change password.” A new password must be 10–100 characters and different from the previous one. If you cannot sign in, select “Forgotten password?” on the sign-in page; ASOS says it will send a reset link to the registered email address. See ASOS account-help instructions.

Check account, order, and payment activity
- Review your ASOS account. Look for account-detail changes, orders, or other activity you do not recognize.
- Check payment activity with your provider. If you find a transaction you do not recognize, contact your bank or payment provider and follow its instructions.
- Contact ASOS through an official route. Use ASOS Help or Customer Care to report suspected account fraud; do not rely on contact details supplied in an unexpected message.
ASOS advises customers not to send a full card number or screenshots of a bank account through email or live chat. The NCSC’s data-breach guidance for individuals and families also explains steps to take after a breach.

Use a unique, strong password for each account, and enable two-step verification where the service offers it. The NCSC recommends both practices. The available ASOS incident and account-help information does not establish that ASOS itself currently offers two-step verification, so check ASOS’s account settings or official help rather than assuming the option exists.
