Google already provides native Gemini Enterprise analytics for app adoption, usage, agents, and value. Promevo says its Insights product adds a consolidated view of licenses, agent inventory and permissions, Google Cloud costs, and historical trends. The choice depends on whether Google’s app-focused reports answer your rollout questions or you need a wider, joined governance and cost view.
What does Google’s built-in Gemini Enterprise reporting cover?
Google describes Gemini Enterprise Analytics as an interactive, Looker-powered dashboard for app usage trends, search quality, and end-user engagement. Its five tabs organize the reporting around adoption, usage and quality, agents, value, and user-level activity. Google’s metric definitions include unique active users, users calling the assistant, seven- and 28-day growth and churn, 28-day retention, seats purchased and claimed, search counts, agent activity, and value measures. These metrics are useful for tracking whether people are reaching and using an app, but “active” does not necessarily mean a person completed a meaningful task. Google notes that signing in and triggering an API call—for example, loading the home page—can qualify. Read the metric definitions before treating activity as evidence of adoption outcomes.
How does Cloud Monitoring differ from Analytics?
Google Cloud Monitoring is a separate operational telemetry surface, not simply another view of the Analytics tabs. Its documentation describes app-scoped and agent-scoped metrics. App-scoped metrics are collected without extra instrumentation; agent-scoped metrics require enabling OpenTelemetry traces and logs instrumentation. Google says the relevant metric data refreshes every minute and falls under the default six-week retention tier for “all other Google Cloud metrics.” Those freshness and retention details apply to Monitoring telemetry, not necessarily to Analytics reports. What does Promevo Insights say it adds?
Promevo presents Insights as a read-only consolidated layer for Gemini Enterprise license usage, agent inventory and permissions, and Google Cloud costs. Its named features include Agent Operations, Agent Cost, User Usage, Asset Discovery & Hierarchy, FinOps & Cloud Spend, Member Summary, and Daily Trends. Promevo says it brings together information otherwise spread across Google consoles and adds dollar values and historical trends. These are vendor-described capabilities; they have not been independently validated in a hands-on comparison.

Can Google reports show inactive licenses?
Google’s documented Analytics metrics include seats purchased and claimed, user activity, and usage windows, which can help teams compare licensed capacity with observed use. The documentation does not establish a single native “inactive license” metric or threshold. Define inactivity for your organization—for example, no qualifying activity over a chosen period—and verify that the data and access available to your account support that rule before using it for reclamation decisions.
For apps in US and EU multi-regions, Google says search analytics are in Public Preview; its documentation says they are generally available for global apps. App metrics require a linked data store. Account for those scope and availability conditions when comparing reports.

When should you use each approach?
Google’s native reports may be enough when
- Your main question is whether app adoption, search use, agent activity, or defined value measures are changing.
- You can work with the documented Analytics views and their roughly six-hour refresh, or use Cloud Monitoring when operational telemetry and its instrumentation model are appropriate.
- You can perform organization-specific analysis in BigQuery by combining Google’s product-centric dashboard data with internal context. Google’s BigQuery guidance discusses this distinction.
Evaluate Insights when
- You need license usage, agent inventory or permissions, and cloud spend considered together.
- Historical trends or dollar-oriented views matter to governance and FinOps decisions, and Promevo can demonstrate the required history and attribution for your environment.
- You want to assess a consolidated reporting layer rather than assemble contextual analysis yourself.
Neither fit is established by an independent product comparison. Choose based on the questions your team must answer, then validate the required fields and definitions against your own Google environment.
