Yes, a foldable phone’s inner screen or hinge can sometimes be repaired or replaced, but the available repair—and whether the screen and hinge are separate parts—depends on the exact model, damage, warranty status, and country. Get a model-specific assessment and estimate before assuming a hinge can be replaced independently or attempting a DIY repair.
Can the inner screen and hinge be replaced separately?
Sometimes, but there is no universal answer for foldable phones. Some repairs may involve replacing a combined display-and-hinge assembly rather than either component by itself. For example, iFixit’s Pixel Fold repair assessment describes the inner display and hinge as a replacement assembly and notes that it is expensive. That Pixel Fold finding does not establish how other models are built.
Ask the manufacturer or authorized repair provider to identify the proposed part or assembly for your exact model. A screen that is cracked, a hinge that is damaged, and a frame that is bent may require different repair scopes.

Also compare the complete quoted cost, expected turnaround, and whether the provider will repair the device or replace it. Samsung says foldable screen repair is available by mail-in; a bent frame may require additional repair, and suggested prices vary by region or authorized service location and exclude taxes and fees. What do current manufacturer programs say?
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Google says a limited number of Pixel 9 Pro Fold devices may qualify for extended support for functional issues for three years after original retail purchase. Cracked display or cover glass and liquid intrusion may make a device ineligible. Google requires an inspection; an eligible phone may be replaced at no charge. Google repair estimates and Preferred Care
To request an estimate, Google directs owners to sign in, enter the phone’s IMEI, select the applicable issue, and review the displayed warranty coverage and estimated cost. Google Preferred Care treats inner Fold screen damage differently from an ordinary outer-screen repair. Depending on the issue, it may fall under other accidental-damage or mechanical/electrical breakdown fees. Coverage and service are limited to the country or region where the plan was purchased, so check the current terms for your plan rather than relying on an old fee. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6
Samsung Electronics America offered one interior-screen repair for $200 to qualifying U.S. customers who purchased a Galaxy Z Fold6 or Z Flip6 by July 31, 2025. The offer required an online repair request and proof of eligibility. Its purchase deadline has passed; it should not be treated as a current standard price or an offer available to new buyers. Motorola phones in India
Motorola’s India support information says physical screen damage is not covered by its standard warranty. For devices that do not qualify for standard warranty service, the repair center determines the quote. The process starts online with the IMEI and issue details. For the Pixel Fold, iFixit reports that T3 Torx screws are used throughout and that the inner display-plus-hinge assembly is expensive. Reassembly also requires multiple one-time-use adhesives and tapes. Those are Pixel Fold-specific observations, not specifications for every foldable. iFixit’s Google Pixel Fold repair information.

A T3 Torx screwdriver set may be relevant if you are researching that model, but a screwdriver does not provide the replacement assembly, adhesives, or repair expertise. Before opening any foldable, verify the exact parts and procedure for your model and compare the parts, tools, and likely reassembly costs with an authorized repair quote. A screen protector or cleaning kit cannot repair a failed inner display or hinge.

How to get a useful repair quote
- Identify the exact phone model and country. Repair programs, parts, and prices can differ by model and location.
- Find the IMEI and check coverage. Use the manufacturer’s official repair request or support channel to check warranty or plan eligibility.
- Describe the symptoms accurately. Note whether the inner display is damaged, the hinge is malfunctioning, the frame is bent, or there is liquid exposure.
- Ask what part will be replaced. Confirm whether the estimate covers the display, hinge, a combined assembly, additional frame work, or a whole-device replacement.
- Compare the full terms. Check the total cost, taxes or fees, turnaround, location, and whether the quote can change after inspection.
