The exact GM vehicle and Galaxy model must both be supported, and availability may depend on whether GM has activated the feature for your vehicle.
Check that your GM vehicle and Samsung phone are eligible
Compatibility depends on both the vehicle and the exact phone model. GM says Digital Key is rolling out in phases and that owners will see a notification in their vehicle app when it becomes available. Check the app for your vehicle; a model-year listing alone does not confirm that your individual vehicle has been activated. GM’s September 23, 2026 announcement describes this schedule:

GM describes Samsung support in device-family terms: Galaxy S21+ 5G or newer, Note20 or newer, and Galaxy Z Fold and Z TriFold models. Cadillac’s more detailed list names specific supported models and excludes A-series and FE devices. Because family shorthand can hide exclusions, check the current Cadillac compatibility list and your vehicle app before setup. Cadillac also calls for the latest app and operating system; its page currently names iOS 26 and Android 16, which are current-version references rather than universal minimums for every GM vehicle.
Prepare before pairing
- Install or update the mobile app for your vehicle and sign in. For Cadillac, use myCadillac.
- Bring the compatible Samsung phone and the vehicle’s physical key fob into the vehicle.
- For Cadillac’s documented setup, turn on Bluetooth, close the doors, and make sure the vehicle is on and in PARK.
- Follow the prompts in the app rather than assuming every GM make or model year uses identical labels.
GM’s setup guidance is to use the vehicle’s mobile app while in the OnStar-connected vehicle with the physical fob nearby, then follow the app prompts to add a key to a compatible digital wallet. See GM’s rollout and setup announcement.

Add the key from the vehicle app
- Open the vehicle app and sign in. Use the app associated with your GM vehicle.
- Open Digital Key setup. In myCadillac, tap Add key to device Wallet on the home tile. If it is not there, tap More (four circles), then Vehicle Settings > Keys > Add key. On some vehicles, Vehicle Settings is under a gear icon.
- Keep the phone and fob in the vehicle. For Cadillac, confirm Bluetooth is on, the vehicle is on and in PARK, and the doors are closed.
- Complete the on-screen prompts. When pairing succeeds, the digital key is added to the device wallet—Samsung Wallet on a compatible Samsung phone.
- Test the key before relying on it. Cadillac recommends trying a lock, unlock, or start operation after exiting the vehicle without the fob.
For 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the owner’s manual says Digital Key is available only after accepting OnStar terms and conditions; its pairing route is through the OnStar account in myChevrolet under Controls > Keys. The path can differ by make and model year, so use the labels shown in your vehicle’s app. See the Chevrolet owner’s manual page for that manual guidance.
What the wallet key can do
GM says Digital Key can support walk-up unlocking, walk-away locking, trunk access and climate controls through the digital wallet. GM also describes sharing the key with up to seven additional devices. Supported actions can vary by vehicle and software; the available controls for your vehicle are the ones shown in its app and wallet. GM’s announcement describes these capabilities.

If the vehicle does not detect your phone
The 2026 Tahoe/Suburban owner’s manual says a weak phone battery or signal interference can prevent detection. The display may show “NO KEY FOUND” or “NO REMOTE KEY WAS DETECTED, PLACE KEY IN KEY POCKET THEN START YOUR VEHICLE.” Try these checks:
- Make sure the phone is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled.
- Hold the phone in your hand, away from your body and pointed toward the vehicle; distance, body position and obstructions can affect signal.
- Check that the phone’s operating system is current.
- Keep the physical key fob available while troubleshooting, and follow the vehicle display’s instructions if it cannot detect the digital key.
