Start with the ad’s own options: look for AdChoices, More, Info, a three-dot menu, or a report/feedback control. If it is a Google-served ad in a partner app, tap AdChoices → Why this ad? → Report ad, choose a reason, and submit any requested details. If those controls are missing, the app or ad may use another network, so use that provider’s reporting route or contact the app’s support team.
Report the ad from its options
- Open the ad’s menu without following it. Look for AdChoices, More, Info, a three-dot menu, or a feedback/report link on the ad. Google says its AdChoices mark and ad options can help identify Google-served ads, but not every app uses Google advertising technology. Google Ads Help
- For a Google ad in a partner app, select AdChoices → “Why this ad?” → “Report ad.” Choose the closest reason and complete any requested fields. Google advises leaving prefilled fields unchanged. Google My Ad Center Help
- Submit the report and keep the confirmation. Google says it emails a receipt confirmation and its Trust & Safety team reviews the report. A report does not guarantee that the ad will be removed, and Google does not promise a particular review time. Google My Ad Center Help
What if the ad has no report button?
The reporting route depends on which company served the ad. Google’s instructions apply only to ads served using Google technology; they will not report an ad served by another network. Check the ad and app for a provider-specific feedback or report control. If you cannot identify the provider, contact the app’s help or support team and ask where to report that specific ad. Choose the route that matches the problem

Google’s reporting directory separates its Google Ads policy report from its Google Play inappropriate-app report. Use an app-store route when the app itself is the issue; report an individual ad to the ad provider when the creative is the issue. Google Transparency Centre: Appeal and Reporting Tools
Report and block are different actions
If your immediate goal is to stop seeing an ad, use a separate block or mute control if the ad provider offers one. Reporting flags a possible policy violation for review; it does not itself block the ad. Google My Ad Center Help

What may count as inappropriate?
Google Play policy examples
Google Play says ads and their associated offers shown in an app must be appropriate for that app’s content rating. Its examples also include ads that imitate app or system interfaces, unexpectedly disrupt app use, lack a clear dismissal option, use a false close button, appear outside the app that served them, or interfere with the device’s normal exit flow. Apple advertising policies
Apple’s cited advertising policy applies to Apple Advertising Services, not every ad displayed in an iPhone or iPad app. The policy, last updated February 26, 2025, requires compliance with applicable law and lists prohibited categories including discriminatory, defamatory, profane or obscene, adult, controlled-substance, weapons, and deceptive content. It does not provide a universal consumer reporting workflow for third-party ads inside iOS apps; use the ad’s or app’s own reporting controls. Apple Advertising Policies

Misleading advertising in the United States
For US context, the FTC tells app marketers to be truthful and clearly disclose important information. That business guidance does not create a universal user-reporting process; the appropriate route depends on the alleged violation and your location. FTC: Marketing Your Mobile App
