If AirDrop sharing isn’t working between a Galaxy phone and an iPhone, first check whether the Galaxy supports Samsung’s Share with Apple devices feature. A Galaxy does not use Apple’s AirDrop directly: the documented cross-platform method is Samsung Quick Share, and it is available only on supported Galaxy models and in supported markets.
Check whether your Galaxy can share with Apple devices
Samsung Support’s guidance, last updated April 24, 2026, says Share with Apple devices is supported only on the Galaxy S26 series as of March 2026, with expansion planned for select flagship models. Availability and rollout timing may vary by market. Samsung lists compatible Apple devices as iPhone 8 or later, iPad (5th generation) or later, and MacBook (2020 or later). If your Galaxy is not eligible, changing the iPhone’s AirDrop setting will not make the feature work. Check Samsung’s current model and market support before troubleshooting the connection further.
Set up Quick Share and AirDrop correctly
- Update the Galaxy components. Samsung requires Quick Share app version 13.8.51.27 or later and Google Play services version 26.11.xx or later for Apple-device sharing. To check for Galaxy software updates, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- Enable sharing on the Galaxy. Go to Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share and turn on Share with Apple devices.
- Make the Apple device discoverable. On the iPhone, go to Settings > General > AirDrop and select Everyone (10 minutes). Apple’s AirDrop guide also says the recipient must allow receiving from the sender: Apple’s AirDrop guide.
- Send the file. On the Galaxy, select the photo or file, tap Share, choose Quick Share, and select the Apple device when it appears.
Fix discovery and transfer problems
Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and bring the devices closer
Samsung requires Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for Quick Share. Apple says AirDrop devices should have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled and be within 30 feet (10 meters). This is Apple’s stated proximity guidance for AirDrop, not a guaranteed transfer range for every environment.

Close features that can interfere with discovery
Samsung says Apple-device discovery is unavailable while Mobile Hotspot or certain Wi-Fi services are in use. Turn off Mobile Hotspot and, if active, pause Smart View, DeX, Multi Control, Music Share, Camera Share, or Storage Share, then try again.
Reconnect and restart
If the Apple device still does not appear or a transfer fails, connect the Galaxy to a network, restart the device, and retry, as Samsung recommends. Also confirm the iPhone remains set to Everyone (10 minutes); that receiving option is time-limited.

Check for an Apple-side network restriction
Apple notes that a VPN configuration that blocks local networking can interfere with some Continuity features. If the Galaxy meets Samsung’s requirements and the sharing settings are correct, check whether such a VPN restriction is enabled and retry without it if appropriate.

Samsung also documents QR-code and URL/link sharing. These alternatives require Wi-Fi or mobile data, unlike nearby sharing, which Samsung says does not use mobile data. Use a QR code when the recipient can scan the sender’s screen; use a copied URL when you can send the link through messaging or email. Details are in Samsung’s Quick Share instructions.
