On the vivo X Fold6, go to Settings > Foldable Devices > Origin Workbench and turn on the gesture toggle. Then swipe inward from the bottom-right corner to open Origin Workbench. For Multi-Split Screen, slightly fold the phone or swipe up with three fingers. The steps below follow vivo’s Europe X Fold6 product page.
Two multitasking modes, two jobs
The X Fold6 has two separate multitasking modes. They differ in layout and in how you launch them.

Pick Workbench when one app is your focus and the others are reference or support. Pick Multi-Split Screen when you want several apps given similar space.
How to open Origin Workbench
- Open Settings > Foldable Devices > Origin Workbench.
- Turn on the gesture toggle.
- From any screen, swipe inward from the bottom-right corner. Origin Workbench launches.

Launching from the Home screen
Use the same slight fold or three-finger upward swipe on the Home screen, then choose the apps you want.
Resizing windows
vivo says windows can be resized within a range and the layout adapts in real time. It also describes a four-finger pinch or spread gesture for resizing. These are vendor descriptions. We have not tested them independently.

Save and restore layouts you use often
- Home screen shortcut: save a Workbench combination to the Home screen to restore it with one tap.
- Combination Library: the taskbar keeps recent combinations automatically, up to 20, according to vivo.
When an app will not join the layout
Not every app supports split screen. vivo’s X Fold6 page says Multi-Split Screen selects active apps that support it. vivo’s OriginOS page also says multitasking and cross-app drag-and-drop depend on app compatibility. If an app is missing or will not enter the layout:
- Try a different app that supports split screen.
- Check that the app is actually active, since active apps are the ones picked first.
- Update the system software, because behavior may change between builds.
The steps come from vivo’s Europe page. Labels and behavior may differ by region or software version, and the pages we reviewed don’t give a full region-by-version breakdown. If you report a difference, include your market and software version.

About vivo’s multitasking runtime claims
vivo India advertises “9.37 Hours” of Origin Workbench multitasking and “+23%” longer multitasking time than the X Fold5. These are manufacturer figures. The page doesn’t provide independent test evidence in the passage we reviewed, so treat them as marketing claims. No built-in feature here requires a separate accessory.
