On iPhone 15 and later, go to Settings > Battery > Charging and select 80%. Apple’s fixed Charge Limit is not available on iPhone 14 or earlier; those models have Optimised Battery Charging instead.
Set your iPhone charge limit to 80%
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Charging.
- Select 80%.
Apple provides selectable limits from 80% to 100% in 5% increments. Return to Settings > Battery > Charging to change or remove the limit. No special charger, cable, app, or service is required. [Apple Support; iPhone User Guide]
Which iPhone models have the fixed 80% limit?
Apple lists Charge Limit for iPhone 15 and later. If you do not see Charging under Battery, check your iPhone model. Apple’s documented settings do not offer a software workaround that adds a fixed 80% cap to iPhone 14 or earlier. [Apple Support]
On iPhone 14 and earlier, the documented path is Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging. There you can manage Optimised Battery Charging, but it is not a user-selected fixed 80% ceiling. [Apple Support]

What happens when the iPhone reaches 80%?
The selected limit is not an exact, permanent stop point. Apple says iPhone charges to within a few percentage points of the chosen limit, then stops. If the level drops by more than 5 percentage points while the phone remains connected to power, charging resumes and approaches the limit again. [Apple Support]
Apple also says iPhone may occasionally charge to 100% even when the selected limit is lower, to keep its battery state-of-charge estimate accurate. Its user guide notes that this may happen more often if the phone does not regularly complete a full charge. [Apple Support; iPhone User Guide]

Charge Limit and Optimised Battery Charging are different

Apple says Optimised Battery Charging needs at least 14 days to learn charging habits and at least nine charges of five hours or more in one location to activate. These are Apple’s stated feature requirements, not measurements of how much battery lifespan improves. [Apple Support]
Change the limit or charge to 100%
To change or remove the saved limit, open Settings > Battery > Charging. When the limit is set to 100%, the interface may offer two choices: Allow Until Tomorrow, which returns to the saved limit at 6:00 a.m., or Set Limit to 100%, which keeps the limit at 100% until you change it. To charge fully sooner, Apple documents the Charge to 100% option in Battery settings. [iPhone User Guide]

Does setting 80% extend battery life?
Apple describes Charge Limit as a way to help reduce battery wear, but its cited guidance does not quantify a guaranteed lifespan improvement from choosing exactly 80%. Apple may recommend a limit based on your charging patterns, so 80% is an available choice—not a universal ideal for every user. [Apple Support]
