You can share files directly between some Samsung Galaxy phones and iPhones, but a Galaxy does not have Apple’s AirDrop feature. The Galaxy uses Quick Share’s “Share with Apple devices” option to connect with AirDrop. If your Galaxy does not have that option, Quick Share can still create a QR code or link for the iPhone to open.
What you need for direct Galaxy–iPhone sharing
Direct sharing works only when the Galaxy model, software and regional rollout support Quick Share interoperability with Apple devices. Google’s current compatibility list names the Galaxy S26, S25 and S24 series and select Z models: Z Flip7, Z Fold7, Z Flip6, Z Fold6, Z Fold6 Special Edition and Z TriFold. Samsung’s support page, which describes availability as of March 2026, says the feature is supported only on the Galaxy S26 series, with expansion to select flagship models planned. The pages therefore differ on supported Galaxy models. Availability and timing may vary by market, so check whether the setting appears on your updated phone rather than assuming your model is eligible. Samsung lists Quick Share version 13.8.51.27 or later and Google Play services version 26.11.xx or later as requirements for Apple-device sharing. Update your phone and apps if needed, then look for the Apple-device option in Quick Share settings.

Send a file from a Galaxy phone to an iPhone
- On the Galaxy, open Settings → Connected devices → Quick Share and turn on Share with Apple devices. If the setting is missing, check the model, software and market availability described above.
- On the iPhone, open Settings → General → AirDrop and choose Everyone for 10 Minutes. You can also change AirDrop receiving from Control Center. Apple’s AirDrop guide
- On the Galaxy, open Gallery or My Files, select the item or items, then tap Share → Quick Share.
- Choose the nearby iPhone in the Quick Share list. The iPhone owner must accept the incoming AirDrop prompt for the transfer to start.
Send a file from an iPhone to a Galaxy phone
- On the Galaxy, open Quick Share settings. Under Who can share with you, choose Everyone (10 minutes only), and leave Share with Apple devices turned on.
- On the iPhone, open the photo or file, tap Share → AirDrop, then select the Galaxy from the nearby-device list.
- Accept the transfer on the Galaxy. Samsung says the Galaxy’s Everyone visibility setting reverts after its 10-minute window.
Use a QR code or link if direct sharing is unavailable
If your Galaxy lacks the Apple-device setting or the other phone does not appear, Quick Share’s QR-code or link option can send the file without direct device discovery. On the Galaxy, select the file and choose Share → Quick Share → QR code or link. The iPhone user can scan the displayed QR code with the Camera app and open the download page, or the sender can copy the link and send it by email or messaging app. This method requires Wi-Fi or mobile data. Fix phones that do not appear in the sharing list
- The iPhone is missing from Quick Share: Set AirDrop receiving to Everyone for 10 Minutes, keep the phones nearby, and confirm that Galaxy Quick Share and Share with Apple devices are enabled.
- The Galaxy is missing from AirDrop: On the Galaxy, set Who can share with you to Everyone (10 minutes only) and check that Apple-device sharing is enabled.
- The Apple-device setting is missing: Check for system updates and confirm the Quick Share and Google Play services versions meet Samsung’s stated requirements. Model support and rollout vary by market.
- Discovery still fails: Bring the phones closer and check that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on. Samsung says searching may not work while Mobile Hotspot or certain Wi-Fi Direct or Wi-Fi Aware features, including Smart View and DeX, are active. Connect to a network, turn off those features, restart the phones and try again. Apple also recommends checking Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AirDrop receiving settings, then restarting if needed. - You only need a transfer method that does not rely on nearby-device discovery: Use the QR-code or link workflow; it needs Wi-Fi or mobile data.
For moving to a new iPhone, use a migration method instead
Quick Share and AirDrop are for individual nearby transfers. If you are setting up a new iPhone and want to move a broader set of Android content, Apple’s Move to iOS setup process is designed for that purpose. It can transfer categories such as contacts, messages, photos and videos, and files and folders. If the iPhone is already set up, Apple says you must erase it and begin setup again to use that route, or transfer content manually. Apple’s Move from Android to iPhone guide
