Choose an AI video generator by the job your team needs done—not by a universal “best” ranking. Runway is oriented toward creative footage in a shared workspace; HeyGen and Synthesia focus on avatar-led business video, training and localization; Adobe Firefly brings video generation into Adobe’s creative ecosystem. Compare the finished output, workflow, usage limits, governance and rights on the exact plan you would buy.
Start with the kind of video your team needs
“AI video generator” can mean several different products. Identify the primary deliverable before comparing subscriptions:
- Generated creative footage: If you need cinematic or illustrative clips to develop into a larger edit, evaluate the generation and editing workflow, consistency, movement and handoff to your existing tools. Runway’s team offering centers on a shared creative workspace and pooled generation.
- Avatar-led explainers, training or internal communications: If the video is primarily a presenter delivering a script, compare avatar acceptability, voice and pronunciation, revision speed, review controls and how well the result fits your brand. HeyGen and Synthesia position their business products around avatar video and communications.
- Video generation within an existing creative suite: If your production already relies on Adobe applications, assess Firefly’s generation access as part of that workflow, including the relevant plan’s credits and model terms.
These are workflow distinctions, not quality rankings. The available vendor information does not establish an independent winner for output quality, productivity or buyer outcomes.
Compare products against your actual workflow
A useful shortlist should include tools that can deliver the same brief, rather than products that merely share an “AI video” label. Alongside output type, check how each handles review and production:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Creation and editing: Can the team revise a clip or script, make changes without restarting the work, and hand the result into its normal editing process?
- Collaboration: Look for comments, shared projects, roles, workspace controls and a clear review path from draft to approval.
- Brand and reuse: Check whether the plan includes brand assets, templates or organization-specific avatars, and whether those features match the way your team works.
- Integration: Confirm whether the product fits your existing creative applications and any required integrations or API workflow. Treat an advertised integration as useful only if it covers your real production handoff.
Read the plan as a usage budget, not just a seat price
Two vendor-listed prices illustrate why headline cost is not enough. Runway lists per-seat pricing with pooled credits; HeyGen lists a base Business price plus additional-seat charges. Their plan structures and inclusions are not directly comparable, and both vendors’ prices and entitlements can change.
| Vendor and plan example | Published price | Usage and workspace details stated by vendor | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runway Team | $69 per seat per month, or $55 per seat per month when billed yearly, as listed on Runway’s Team page. | Runway lists 6,900 monthly credits per seat pooled across the workspace, one-month rollover, a two-to-nine-person workspace, up to 100 projects and 1 TB of storage. It also lists frame-accurate comments, Brand Kits and integrations. | Confirm current price, model access, seat minimums, what consumes credits, whether rollover suits your usage pattern, and the workspace limits on the plan offered to you. |
| HeyGen Business | $149 per month plus $20 per additional seat, as listed on HeyGen’s pricing page. | HeyGen describes workspace collaboration, centralized billing, video creation and translation, organization avatars, SSO, roles and admin tools. The vendor states that Business supports translation into more than 175 languages and dialects. | Confirm current seat accounting, included usage, translation limits and the commercial-use terms for the specific plan and output. |
| Synthesia Enterprise | Not stated on the cited Enterprise page. | Synthesia describes translation, versioning, audit logs, brand guardrails, interactive learning experiences and governance. | Request a plan-specific quote and written details for usage, seats, translation, controls and support. |
| Adobe Firefly for Teams | Regional pricing varies; consult the applicable Firefly for Teams page for your region. | Adobe’s regional page lists monthly generative credits, video-generation access, Adobe applications and features, and business administration and support benefits. | Check your region’s price and the exact plan’s credit allowance, video access, applications and model availability. |
For every finalist, ask how many finished videos or minutes your expected workflow can realistically produce from the included allowance. Establish whether generation length, retries, resolution, translation or model choice change consumption. Also ask about credit rollover, top-ups or overages, concurrent generations, storage, seat limits and custom enterprise terms. Do not infer these answers from a seat price or a feature-page headline.

Match governance to the rollout
Team collaboration features and enterprise controls are not interchangeable. Runway describes Team as a two-to-nine-person workspace; its Help Center directs customers needing more than nine seats, SSO, third-party model controls, usage reporting or contracted annual terms to Enterprise. HeyGen describes shared workspaces, roles, SSO and centralized administration for Business. Synthesia’s Enterprise materials describe versioning, audit logs, brand guardrails and governance.
Ask vendors to confirm the exact features in the proposed plan, including who can invite users, share or export projects, manage assets and control access to models. For a larger or regulated rollout, make SSO, auditability, sharing restrictions, support and procurement terms explicit requirements rather than assuming they are included in a team tier.

Test localization with your own script and languages
Translation counts do not establish that a localized video will sound natural or pass your review process. HeyGen states that Business supports over 175 languages and dialects; Synthesia describes video translation. Those are vendor descriptions, not independent measurements of translation quality.
In a pilot, use a real script with names, technical terms and a sentence likely to change during review. Generate one target-language version, then assess pronunciation, voice, captions, timing, avatar or lip-sync acceptability, and the effort required to correct errors. Include the person who approves localized content, not only the person operating the tool.

Check model, data and rights terms before uploading
Review the terms that apply to the exact product, plan, model and workflow. Adobe says its Firefly models are trained using licensed and public-domain content, that customer content is not used to train models, and that qualifying fully generated assets receive Content Credentials. Adobe’s separate partner-model documentation is specifically for Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise; it says required prompts or inputs may be shared with a partner and that content is not used for training.
Adobe states: “Your content is not used to train Adobe models or partner generative AI models.” That statement appears on Adobe’s Partner models in Firefly Creative Production for Enterprise page, updated September 10, 2026, and applies to that named Enterprise product experience—not automatically to every Adobe plan or workflow. Adobe also says IP indemnification depends on an eligible entitlement and is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions. Its plan comparison distinguishes Firefly model outputs available for commercial use from partner-model outputs, which need separate assessment.

For any vendor, confirm commercial-use rights, ownership and permission requirements for uploaded assets, output provenance, model-specific restrictions and any indemnity in the contract. First-party product and security pages describe vendor claims; have security and procurement review the contractual terms before sensitive material is uploaded.
Run a fair team pilot
Give each finalist the same short deliverable, brief and approved source assets. For avatar tools, include a script revision and a target-language version. Score the work your team actually needs, not an impressive isolated demo.
- Set a common brief: Define audience, format, length, brand rules, source assets and acceptance criteria. Use identical inputs wherever the product workflow allows.
- Make and revise the deliverable: Record how much effort it takes to create a usable first cut and incorporate a realistic change request.
- Review the finished output: Score visual or avatar quality, consistency, movement, pronunciation and lip-sync where relevant, editability, brand fit and review collaboration.
- Measure operational cost: Record time to final, credits or other usage consumed, translation effort, exports and any legal or compliance review burden.
- Close the procurement check: Confirm plan-specific usage, controls, rights, data handling, support and contract terms with the vendor before adopting the tool.
This method makes the decision answer a practical question: which product produces an acceptable final video for your team, with a workflow and contract your organization can support?
