OriginOS 7 introduces a more specifically advertised set of multitasking, interface, AI, personalization, and cross-device features, but it is not a guaranteed update for every Vivo phone. Vivo announced the global experience on September 24, 2026. Whether you can use it depends on your exact phone, software version, market, and—in some cases—compatible apps, languages, or accessories. Vivo’s Funtouch OS page describes broad design principles rather than a current, version-matched feature comparison.
What is the difference between OriginOS 7 and Funtouch OS?
The practical distinction is that Vivo’s current OriginOS 7 materials name particular tools and changes, while its Funtouch OS page reviewed here focuses on design intent. That does not establish that every Funtouch OS version lacks a feature listed for OriginOS 7, or that OriginOS 7 is categorically better. A fair comparison requires the same phone class, regional software, and version generation.
Vivo describes Funtouch OS as having balanced, watercolor-like colors, balanced icon design, intuitive interactions inspired by the physical world, and motion effects meant to make form follow function. These are announced capabilities, not a promise that every feature appears on every phone. Vivo’s OriginOS 7 global feature page notes model and regional exceptions; AI tools can also depend on language and app compatibility.
What changes in everyday use?
Managing several apps
Origin Workbench is the clearest advertised change for people who switch between active tasks. Vivo describes it as coordinating as many as five active applications in one task space. The announcement does not establish that every phone supports the same app combinations or behavior, so check the feature list for the particular model rather than assuming it works identically across the range.

Animations and visual design
Origin Animation, Dynamic Glow, Immersive Home, translucent materials, and system haptics point to changes in how the interface looks and responds. Vivo frames these as part of a smoother, more tactile experience. That is a description of the product’s intended experience, not independent proof that it feels faster or better than a particular Funtouch OS build.
AI and document tasks
Snap Note is intended to turn photographed notes or presentation material into editable documents. Other listed tools include AI summaries, call tools, AI Search, Snap & Go, and Jovi assistance. Availability can depend on the phone, market, language, and compatible apps or services. If one of these functions matters to you, verify it for your region and software build before buying or planning around it.

Connections with computers, tablets, and Apple devices
Vivo describes Office Kit connections with compatible computers and tablets, selected iCloud access, AirPods information, and Apple Watch features. Apple Watch connectivity is described as a future over-the-air feature for specified newer device lines and compatible watch models; it should not be treated as available now on every OriginOS 7 phone. Compatibility and timing are model-specific.
Customization, gaming, and battery tools
Theme and home-screen options include Wiggle Theme, Glint Theme, StickIt, Pet Pals, and Always-On Display live updates. For gaming and comfort, Vivo lists Ultra Game Mode, glare protection, 4D game vibration, Nighttime Eye Protection, and audio redirect. Battery-related tools include estimates, standby behavior, and bypass charging. Feature availability and real-world results vary with device and usage.

Does OriginOS 7 make Vivo phones faster?
Vivo reports several improvements from its own 2026 testing: a 10% reduction in app cold-start time, an 11% improvement in app page switching, 60% greater memory reclamation, and a 14.4% improvement in rendering efficiency. It also reports up to 25 GB of additional storage on a 256 GB device under its test conditions. These are company figures, not independent measurements comparing OriginOS 7 directly with Funtouch OS.
Vivo also reports a 72-month anti-aging test conducted in its labs. That describes a test; it is not a guarantee that every device will remain perfectly smooth for six years. Because the available figures do not provide a controlled, version-matched Funtouch comparison, they cannot establish how much faster a particular phone will feel after a change.

Which Vivo phones have OriginOS 7, and will your phone get it?
Vivo’s September 24, 2026 announcement says OriginOS 7 will be available on the vivo X500 Series and new X Fold and V Series devices. The announcement does not provide a complete global, model-by-model update list for existing phones. It also says availability and supported features may vary by device, software version, and market; further Philippines availability details are to be announced through official channels. A series name alone does not confirm local availability or upgrade eligibility. Check your local Vivo support page or the update notice for your exact model.

- Check local confirmation. Look for an OriginOS 7 shipping-software listing or a specific update notice on Vivo’s support channels for your market.
- Verify the features you need. Confirm that the relevant multitasking, AI, accessory, or ecosystem function is listed for that device and region.
How should you compare phones or software builds?
Compare the exact devices and builds rather than the operating-system names in isolation. For a buyer, check the local phone variant, the software it actually ships with, and confirmed update eligibility. For a current owner, use the model-specific update notice rather than assuming a family-wide rollout.
- Which model and regional version are being compared, and is OriginOS 7 confirmed for them?
- Which named features work on the exact software builds?
- How do multitasking and animation behavior compare on those devices?
- Do Google, Apple, PC, and accessory connections support the services and devices you use?
- Are AI features available in your language and compatible with your apps?
- Are performance or battery figures company lab claims, and what test conditions or model limits apply?
Vivo’s Colling Cheung, OriginOS Global Product Planning Director, described the launch as “mastery of smoothness, smartly redefined.” That is Vivo’s positioning, not an independent assessment. The announced features and company test figures help explain what Vivo intends to change, but they do not establish a universal winner over Funtouch OS.
